If you want a Canadian airport limo that is waiting when you land, this page is the starting point. LimousineCanada.ca serves the country's major airports with chauffeured sedans, SUVs and Sprinters, and each airport below has its own logistics: where licensed vehicles load, how far downtown is, which airports have U.S. preclearance, and what a realistic fare looks like. Every price here is a range in Canadian dollars before tax; the fare you actually pay is shown in the booker once you enter your address.
How does a chauffeured airport pickup work in Canada?
You book with your flight number, we track the flight, and your driver meets you after customs at a pre-arranged point or inside the arrivals hall with a name board. The fare is fixed in advance, and the free wait is 60 minutes on international arrivals and 30 minutes on domestic.
The sequence is the same at every airport, even though the curb is different:
- Book on LimousineCanada.ca with your airline and flight number, passenger count and luggage.
- We track the flight. Early, late or diverted, the pickup follows the aircraft.
- You land, clear customs if needed and collect your bags. You message your driver when you are walking out.
- Your driver meets you at the pre-arranged pickup point, or inside the arrivals hall with a name board if you add meet-and-greet at $100–$150.
- You ride to your address at the quoted fare. Tolls such as Ontario's 407 ETR are extra, and gratuity is at your discretion.
A child seat is supplied at no charge when you ask for one at booking.

Customs, winter weather and arrival timing at Canadian airports
International arrivals clear Canadian customs and immigration at the first airport where you land in Canada. Domestic connections have no border step. If you connect internationally through a Canadian hub, such as Toronto, Montréal or Vancouver, you are generally processed there and travel domestically on the final leg.
The Canada Border Services Agency publishes the rules on identification, visas and electronic travel authorizations on its travel documents page. Among other points, it tells travellers to carry acceptable ID for themselves and any minors, and it notes that many international visitors need a visa or an eTA before they travel.
For your chauffeur, the practical effect is time. A domestic passenger is generally at the curb soon after the bags appear. An international passenger can take an hour or more. That is the reasoning behind our free waiting time: 60 minutes after landing on international arrivals and 30 minutes on domestic. Flight tracking is included in every airport transfer.
Winter changes the arithmetic. From November to March, snow, freezing rain and de-icing queues cause delays at Toronto, Ottawa, Montréal, Halifax and every Prairie airport, and the highways between an airport and a ski town can slow or close. Because your chauffeur tracks the aircraft, a delayed flight moves the pickup automatically, and if conditions on the road are poor the driver will tell you before you land rather than after. On the long transfers, such as Halifax to the South Shore or Montréal to Mont-Tremblant, build a margin into any connecting plan.
Which Canadian airports have U.S. preclearance?
Preclearance means U.S. Customs and Border Protection inspects you in Canada before you board a flight to the United States. It matters for the departure side of a trip: allow extra time before a U.S.-bound flight. U.S. Customs and Border Protection lists its Canadian sites on its preclearance page.

| Airport | Preclearance |
|---|---|
| Toronto Pearson (YYZ) | Yes |
| Billy Bishop Toronto City (YTZ) | Yes |
| Vancouver (YVR) | Yes |
| Calgary (YYC) | Yes |
| Edmonton (YEG) | Yes |
| Winnipeg (YWG) | Yes |
| Ottawa (YOW) | Yes |
| Montréal-Trudeau (YUL) | Yes |
| Halifax Stanfield (YHZ) | Yes |
| Victoria (YYJ) | Not at the airport; CBP lists Victoria preclearance at 470 Belleville Street |
| Québec City, Kelowna, Hamilton, Saskatoon, Regina, St. John's | Not listed |
Arriving from the United States, the picture is simple: you clear Canadian customs on arrival like any other international passenger.
Airport-authority rules for commercial ground transport
Every Canadian airport authority sets its own rules for who may pick up where, and the rules change. A few examples from the authorities themselves:

- Ottawa says all licensed transportation operates from Level 1 (arrivals) and that passenger loading is not permitted on Level 3, the departures level. Its ground transportation page lists pre-arranged limousine pickup at pillars 12 and 13.
- Halifax states that pre-arranged taxis and limousines must be booked before the passenger arrives, and that vehicles must not be left unattended at the curb. See the airport's taxi and limo page.
- Québec City keeps a published list of limousine companies for passengers who book ahead, and a taxi counter on level 1 between the international arrivals area and the currency exchange. See its limousine page.
- Montréal places taxis and limousines at the arrivals level near the central exit, with a dispatcher, according to the city's tourism guidance.
Booking through LimousineCanada.ca means your driver already knows the local rule and will message you the pickup point before you land.
Airport comparison: distance, drive time and sedan fare
These are rounded road distances and typical off-peak drive times. Peak-hour drives are longer. Sedan fares assume the Executive Sedan rate of $4.65–$5.55 per kilometre, never below the $145–$175 minimum.

| Airport | IATA | Distance to downtown / typical drive | Executive Sedan to downtown |
|---|---|---|---|
| Toronto Pearson | YYZ | about 27 km, 30–60 min | $145–$175 |
| Vancouver | YVR | about 13 km, 20–35 min | $145–$175 |
| Montréal-Trudeau | YUL | about 20 km, 25–45 min | $145–$175 |
| Calgary | YYC | about 17 km, 20–30 min | $145–$175 |
| Edmonton | YEG | about 30 km, 30–45 min | $145–$175 |
| Ottawa | YOW | about 15 km, 15–25 min | $145–$175 |
| Halifax Stanfield | YHZ | about 40 km, 30–45 min | $190–$225 |
| Winnipeg | YWG | about 8 km, 15–20 min | $145–$175 |
| Billy Bishop Toronto City | YTZ | about 3 km, 10–20 min | $145–$175 |
| Québec City | YQB | about 16 km, 20–30 min | $145–$175 |
| Victoria | YYJ | about 24 km, 25–40 min | $145–$175 |
| Kelowna | YLW | about 10 km, 15 min | $145–$175 |
| Hamilton | YHM | about 20 km, 20 min | $145–$175 |
| Saskatoon | YXE | about 6 km, 10–15 min | $145–$175 |
| Regina | YQR | about 7 km, 10–15 min | $145–$175 |
| St. John's | YYT | under 10 km, 10–20 min | $145–$175 |
The fare for a short city run is the minimum, so a 6 km trip and a 27 km trip cost the same. Halifax is the exception, because 40 km at the per-kilometre rate is above the minimum.
Ontario airports: Toronto Pearson, Billy Bishop, Hamilton and Ottawa

Toronto Pearson (YYZ)
Canada's biggest airport is about 27 km from downtown Toronto, and the trip can take 30 to 60 minutes. Pearson has U.S. preclearance, so allow extra time before an American departure. For terminal-by-terminal pickup detail, see our Pearson airport limo page, or the wider Toronto airport limo overview.
Billy Bishop Toronto City (YTZ)
Billy Bishop is on the island just off the waterfront, reached by a pedestrian tunnel and a short ferry. It is close to downtown, so the fare is the minimum. See Billy Bishop airport limo service for the access routes and pickup details.
Hamilton John C. Munro (YHM)
Hamilton's airport is on the Mount Hope plateau, roughly 20 km from the city centre, and serves travellers heading to Hamilton, Niagara and the western end of the Golden Horseshoe. Details are on our Hamilton airport limo page.
Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier (YOW)
Ottawa's single terminal sits about 15 km south of Parliament Hill and has an O-Train Line 4 station. Government and conference arrivals are our main traffic. See Ottawa airport limo service.
Québec airports: Montréal-Trudeau and Québec City
Montréal-Trudeau (YUL)
YUL is about 20 km from downtown, and the airport's REM station is still under construction, with the REM stating that commissioning of that segment is expected in 2027. The 747 bus, taxis and private cars carry the traffic until then. See our Montréal airport limo page, including Mont-Tremblant transfers.
Québec City Jean Lesage (YQB)
A compact airport about 16 km from Old Québec, with transfers to the Château Frontenac, the cruise terminals, Mont-Sainte-Anne and Charlevoix. See Québec City airport limo.
Atlantic Canada: Halifax Stanfield and St. John's
Halifax Stanfield (YHZ)
Halifax is about 40 km from downtown, the longest airport run on this list, and the only Atlantic Canadian airport with U.S. preclearance. See Halifax airport limo for Pier 21, Lunenburg and Peggy's Cove transfers.
St. John's International (YYT)
St. John's airport describes itself as less than 10 km from the downtown core, so the trip is short, though fog and winter weather can delay flights. See St. John's airport limo service.
British Columbia: Vancouver, Victoria and Kelowna
Vancouver International (YVR)
YVR sits on Sea Island about 13 km from downtown. The Canada Line takes roughly 26 minutes to the core, and Vancouver has U.S. preclearance. See Vancouver airport limo for the full detail, and Canada Place for cruise transfers.
Victoria International (YYJ)
Victoria's airport is in Sidney, about 24 km north of the city on the Saanich Peninsula. See Victoria airport limo and the Ogden Point cruise terminal.
Kelowna International (YLW)
Kelowna's airport is about 10 km from downtown, and is the gateway to Okanagan wineries and Big White. See Kelowna airport limo.
Alberta and the Prairies: Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Saskatoon and Regina
Calgary International (YYC)
About 17 km north-east of downtown, with preclearance and a drive of 20 to 30 minutes. Mountain transfers to Banff run from here. See Calgary airport limo.
Edmonton International (YEG)
Edmonton's airport is in Leduc County, roughly 30 km south of the city on Highway 2, so allow 30 to 45 minutes. See Edmonton airport limo.
Winnipeg Richardson (YWG)
About 8 km from downtown Winnipeg, with preclearance and a short, quick drive. See Winnipeg airport limo.
Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker (YXE)
A small airport about 6 km north-west of downtown. See Saskatoon airport limo.
Regina International (YQR)
About 7 km south-west of downtown Regina. See Regina airport limo.
What is the cheapest way from a Canadian airport to downtown?
Almost always the local transit link, and sometimes it is also the best option. The right choice depends on your luggage, your hour and your party.
| Option | Typical cost | Time | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Train or rapid transit (Vancouver Canada Line, Ottawa O-Train Line 4, Toronto's airport rail link) | Lowest, per person | Often the fastest into the core at rush hour | Solo travellers with light luggage |
| City bus (Montréal 747, Halifax Route 320) | From under $5 (Halifax Route 320 is $4.75) to $11.25 (Montréal 747 with a 24-hour pass) | Slowest | Budget travellers, any hour on the 24-hour lines |
| Taxi rank | Metered or zone flat fare, usually the middle price | Direct | One or two travellers, no booking needed |
| Rideshare | Varies with demand | Direct | Short notice |
| Hotel shuttle | Free or low-cost where offered | Slow with stops | Airport hotels |
| Pre-booked private car (LimousineCanada.ca) | Sedan $145–$175 for most city runs | Direct, flight tracked | Luggage, families, groups, business, late arrivals |
If you are alone with a carry-on and your hotel is near a station, take the train. If you are two or more with luggage, or arriving after a long flight, a fixed-fare car is often not much more than two taxi fares and removes the uncertainty.
Is an airport limo worth it in Canada?
Yes, in specific cases. A chauffeur is worth paying for when you have heavy luggage or children, when you arrive late at night or in winter weather, when you land on an international flight and do not know how long customs will take, when you need a receipt for your company, or when the airport is far from the city, as at Halifax or Edmonton. It is not worth it for a short ride with a single carry-on where a train or bus is simple.
Because every city-run fare is the same minimum, the price of a Canadian airport limo is easier to predict than a taxi in traffic. See the full rate card on limo rates.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a limo from a Canadian airport to downtown?
At most airports, a sedan is $145–$175 and a Luxury SUV is $180–$220, because city runs fall under the minimum. Longer airports, such as Halifax (about 40 km), are priced per kilometre: $190–$225 in a sedan.
What is the cheapest way to get from the airport to downtown in Canada?
Usually the train or the city bus. Halifax Route 320 is $4.75 and Montréal's 747 is $11.25. Taxis are next, and a pre-booked private car is the most comfortable.
Is an airport limo worth it?
It is worth it with luggage, children, a late arrival, a group or a business receipt. For a single traveller with a carry-on and a train station nearby, public transit is better value.
How long will the driver wait if my flight is late?
Flight tracking means a late aircraft never strands your driver or your booking. Free waiting begins at landing: 60 minutes for international arrivals, 30 minutes for domestic.
Can I book a limo for any Canadian airport?
We cover the airports listed on this page: Toronto Pearson, Billy Bishop, Hamilton, Ottawa, Montréal, Québec City, Halifax, St. John's, Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Saskatoon and Regina.
Which Canadian airports have U.S. preclearance?
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection: Billy Bishop, Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Montréal, Ottawa, Toronto Pearson, Vancouver and Winnipeg, plus a Victoria site listed at 470 Belleville Street.
Do you provide a name board at arrivals?
Yes. Meet-and-greet inside the arrivals hall with a name board is an add-on of $100–$150. The standard pickup is at the pre-arranged point, which your driver messages to you.
Do you provide child seats?
Yes, free on request when you book.
Are tolls included in the fare?
No. Tolls such as Ontario's 407 ETR are extra, and gratuity is at your discretion. The online booker shows the all-in fare for your address.
