Billy Bishop FBO limo service: the short version

Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport sits on the Toronto Island, a few minutes from the financial core, and it is one of the most convenient places in the country to start or end a business trip. It is also an unusual airport to organise ground transport for. The terminal and the Porter FBO are on the island side of the Western Gap, the public approach is on the mainland at the foot of Bathurst Street, and the two are joined by a pedestrian tunnel and a short ferry.

A Billy Bishop FBO limo booking from LimousineCanada.ca is built around that geography. Your chauffeur tracks your aircraft, positions at the mainland pavilion, and meets you where the tunnel surfaces so your bags move once, not three times. If you prefer a vehicle waiting at the downtown end of a morning departure, we schedule the pickup against your wheels-up time and the walk through the tunnel, not against a generic airport buffer.

This page covers private and business aviation only. If you are flying a scheduled airline out of the same terminal, the Billy Bishop airport limo page has the commercial-arrivals detail.

How do you get a limo to a Billy Bishop private flight?

An aircraft near the Toronto waterfront
An aircraft near the Toronto waterfront

Book a chauffeured car for the mainland pavilion at 2 Eireann Quay, at the foot of Bathurst Street, and give us your tail number or operator. We track the flight, meet you at the tunnel exit or ferry dock, and drive to your downtown or regional address. Sedan transfers to most downtown addresses start at $145–$175.

Most arrangements fall into one of three patterns. In the first, you arrive on the island, clear any formalities with the FBO, walk or ride across to the mainland, and your chauffeur is waiting at the curb. In the second, you leave from downtown, we collect you at your hotel or office, and we deliver you to the mainland pavilion with enough margin for the crossing. In the third, an aircraft is repositioned to another field, and the car follows it, which is common when a Billy Bishop flight diverts or when a client lands at Pearson or Oshawa instead.

What business aviation at Billy Bishop actually looks like

Billy Bishop is a short-runway, downtown field. The airport publishes its hours as 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily, and Porter FBO lists runway 08-26 at 1,216 metres (3,988 feet). Under the airport's operating agreement, jet aircraft are restricted, with medical evacuation flights excepted, so private traffic here tends to be turboprops and piston aircraft rather than the larger jets you will see at Pearson. If your aircraft type is in doubt, confirm with your operator before you plan the ground leg.

That profile suits the trip it serves: short hops from Ottawa, Montréal, Muskoka, the Niagara region or the American northeast, arriving close to the meeting rather than an hour away from it. It also means passenger groups are usually small, which makes the executive sedan and the luxury SUV the natural vehicles. Larger parties and film or event crews do arrive, and for them the Sprinter is the practical answer.

Porter FBO at Hangar 6: what the operator publishes

Porter FBO Limited publishes its own description of the facility at porterfbo.com. It lists a lounge, meeting rooms, crew facilities and aircraft parking, with daily hangar and ramp space availability. The facility is in Hangar 6, just east of the control tower, and it is staffed daily from 05:30 to 23:00. It also lists a complimentary shuttle service and notes that there are no air-traffic delays or slot-time restrictions at the field.

We do not operate the FBO and we are not affiliated with it. We simply know where its door is in relation to the tunnel and the ferry, and we plan the car around it. If your flight department handles the FBO booking, send us the same arrival time and we will match the vehicle to it.

The island crossing: tunnel, ferry and why the car meets you on the mainland

Passengers reach the terminal from the mainland by pedestrian tunnel or by a short ferry. Porter FBO's own page puts the tunnel about five minutes on foot from the FBO and says the ferry runs every 15 minutes between 5:30 a.m. and midnight. The airport itself describes the mainland pavilion as the pick-up and drop-off point at the foot of Eireann Quay, and sets out its curb rules on its pick-up and drop-off page.

For a chauffeur, that settles the question of where to wait. Vehicles can take the ferry across, but the airport notes that the ferry fee and any parking fees then apply, and the crossing adds time. We therefore stage the car on the mainland, and the meeting point is the mainland end of the crossing. That is why a Billy Bishop booking asks for your landing time and your party size: the walk, with bags, takes a few minutes, and we would rather be at the tunnel mouth early than be circling Queens Quay.

If someone in your party cannot walk the tunnel, tell us when you book. The airport publishes arrangements for passengers who need assistance, including use of the ferry with a validation ticket from the gate attendant, and we can build the plan around that.

Curb rules at the mainland pavilion

The airport's published curb guidance is specific. The kerb outside the terminal, mainland pavilion and ferry terminal is a no-parking zone reserved for active loading and unloading. Complimentary spots inside the turning circle allow a maximum five-minute wait for pickups and drop-offs once the passenger is confirmed to be arriving. Taxis drop off at the curb and pick up at a corral to the right of the pavilion. Ride-hailing pickups use the lane beside Little Norway Park.

Those rules were written for the general public, and the page does not describe arrangements for pre-booked limousines, so we do not claim a special bay. What we do is time the arrival to your walk, keep the stop short, and wait in a legal position until you appear. Your chauffeur will message you with the exact vehicle description as you cross.

YTZ fare ranges: downtown, Pearson and beyond

Everything inside the central core falls under the minimum transfer. Longer runs are priced per kilometre between the low and high end of our published ranges. Fares are before tax. Tolls such as the 407 ETR are extra when the route uses it, and gratuity is at the client's discretion. See the full limousine rate card for hourly and group vehicles.

Which vehicle suits a turboprop party

A typical corporate turboprop carries a handful of passengers, and baggage is generally lighter than on a long-haul airline trip. The Executive Sedan takes three passengers with two large bags and two carry-ons. If you are four to six, or if the party includes golf bags, display cases or camera cases, the Luxury SUV takes six passengers and five or six large bags. For crews, event staff, or a delegation arriving on two aircraft, the Executive Sprinter seats twelve to fourteen with room for twelve or more bags.

Review the fleet page for what each vehicle looks like, and tell us at booking if you need child seats; they are supplied at no charge when requested in advance.

Customs and border formalities on a private arrival

If your flight starts outside Canada, customs and immigration steps are arranged through your operator and the Canada Border Services Agency, not through us. The CBSA publishes the rules for private aircraft entering Canada, including its CANPASS Private Aircraft programme for pre-approved members, on its own site. Porter FBO's page does not describe customs procedures, so confirm the arrangement with the FBO before you depart.

For our part, we track the aircraft and hold your car for the complimentary window: 60 minutes after an international landing, 30 minutes for a domestic one. If clearance is slow, you are not charged for the wait inside that window.

Billy Bishop ground options compared

The honest answer is that downtown Toronto from Billy Bishop is one of the easier trips in the country, and a private car is not always the best choice. Here is how the options actually compare.

OptionTypical costTypical time to Union StationBest for
Pedestrian tunnel, then walkNo chargeDepends on your route; allow time for the walkLight bags, good weather, short distance to a hotel
Free shuttle bus to downtown (listed by Porter FBO)No chargeCheck the posted scheduleSolo travellers with one bag to the Union Station area
Taxi from the corralMeteredAbout 10–15 minA single traveller to a nearby address
Rideshare at the Little Norway Park laneVariable, subject to surgeAbout 10–15 minCasual trips; vehicle size not chosen in advance
Private car with LimousineCanada.ca$145–$220 for most downtown addressesAbout 10–15 minGroups, luggage, tight meeting schedules, guaranteed vehicle

If you are alone, travelling with one carry-on, and your hotel is a few blocks from Union Station, the free shuttle or a taxi is the more economical answer. A pre-booked car earns its fare when there are three or more of you, heavy cases, an executive who cannot afford a missing vehicle, or a late-evening arrival after most ground options have thinned out. For a fair look at the category differences, read limo versus rideshare.

Timing a Billy Bishop trip around the operating day

Because the airport closes at 11:00 p.m. and opens at 5:00 a.m., the day has hard edges. An early morning departure means the car often needs to collect you before the city wakes up. We recommend leaving the hotel about 45 minutes before the scheduled wheels-up for a private flight, which gives time for the walk through the tunnel and the FBO formalities without rushing. Late arrivals carry the opposite risk: if the aircraft is delayed toward the 11:00 p.m. limit, the crew may divert, and your chauffeur follows the aircraft rather than the original plan.

If you are making a connection to a scheduled flight at Pearson, allow a full hour for the drive, and check whether your sedan or SUV will run the 427 or the Gardiner and QEW at that time of day.

Winter, fog and lake-effect days

The Toronto waterfront gets freezing rain, fog off the lake and heavy snow in the same season. When the Western Gap ferry is delayed, the pedestrian tunnel is the alternative, and the covered crossing takes much of the pain out of luggage. The practical effect on the road is that Gardiner and Lake Shore Boulevard times can double during a storm, so we widen the pickup buffer and message you earlier. Our dispatchers watch the Gardiner and Lake Shore closures and re-time the pickup before you land.

Cars for a diverted or repositioned aircraft

Private flights change. A Billy Bishop arrival can be redirected to Pearson, Hamilton or Oshawa, and a departure that was planned from the island can move to another field when weather or runway availability interferes. Because we dispatch by flight and not by address, a change of airport does not require a new booking. Tell us the tail number, your operator, or the flight number and we will move the car. For the other fields, see the Pearson private aviation page and the Oshawa executive airport page.

Corporate accounts, roadshows and recurring runs

Teams that fly in and out of Billy Bishop weekly can open a corporate account for consolidated invoicing, and we can pre-assign the same chauffeur to the same executive. Roadshow itineraries, with a morning in the financial district, a lunch in Yorkville and a late flight home, are usually better priced hourly than point to point; the hourly rate for a sedan is $135–$165 with a two-hour minimum, and for a Luxury SUV $175–$210 with a two-hour minimum. If you are building a larger programme, the Toronto limo page lists the city services.

What we need from you at booking

To dispatch cleanly, we ask for your operator or tail number, scheduled landing or departure time, the number of passengers and bags, and the street address of the downtown or regional end. If you want a vehicle held for a return the same day, we price the wait as hourly time. The online booker gives the exact all-in fare for the exact address, and your confirmation lists the vehicle, the chauffeur's details and the meeting point.

Cancellation terms are measured from the scheduled pickup time. More than 72 hours' notice carries no charge; 72 hours or less is 10%; 48 hours or less is 50%; and 24 hours or less, or a no-show, is 100%. Because private-aircraft times move, tell us as early as possible and we will adjust rather than cancel wherever we can.

Frequently asked questions

Can a limo pick me up on the island at Billy Bishop?

The published curb guidance describes the mainland pavilion as the pickup and drop-off point, and the island is reached by tunnel or ferry. We stage on the mainland and meet you where the tunnel emerges, so you do not need to ferry the vehicle across.

How much is a limo from Billy Bishop to downtown Toronto?

Most downtown addresses, including Union Station, the Financial District and Yorkville, fall under the minimum transfer. That is $145–$175 in an Executive Sedan, $180–$220 in a Luxury SUV and $295–$355 in an Executive Sprinter, before tax.

Do private jets fly into Billy Bishop?

Under the airport's operating agreement, jets are restricted, apart from medical evacuation flights, so private traffic is mostly turboprop and piston aircraft. If you are flying a jet, your operator will plan around Pearson, Hamilton or Oshawa, and we can meet you at any of them.

What are the Billy Bishop FBO hours?

Porter FBO lists daily staffing from 05:30 to 23:00, and the airport publishes its own hours as 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Always confirm with the FBO before a very early or late flight.

Will my chauffeur track a private flight?

Yes. Give us the tail number, operator or flight identifier. Flight tracking is included, and we hold the car for 30 minutes after a domestic landing and 60 minutes after an international one at no extra charge.

Can the driver come to the aircraft or FBO door?

We plan to meet you on the mainland, because that is the public vehicle approach. If your FBO can arrange ramp access for a specific pickup, ask them, and let us know the permitted staging point in advance.

Is it worth booking a car for such a short trip?

For one person with one bag going to a nearby hotel, a taxi or the free shuttle is the cheaper choice. For groups, heavy luggage, tight schedules or an after-hours arrival, a fixed-fare booking removes the uncertainty and guarantees the vehicle size.

Can you take us on to Oshawa, Waterloo or Muskoka after we land?

Yes. The table above shows the fares to those destinations, and the airports hub lists the other fields we serve. Multi-stop itineraries are priced hourly if the stops are close together.

Do you provide child seats?

Child seats are free when requested at booking, so tell us the ages and weights of the children in your party.
