Rocky Mountaineer station transfers are the quiet, unglamorous part of one of Canada's best-known rail journeys. Guests prepare for months, then discover on departure morning that the Vancouver station is not the main downtown terminal, that luggage is handled in a particular way and that a late car can cost them the train. A chauffeur who has your confirmation in hand removes that risk.
LimousineCanada.ca is not affiliated with Rocky Mountaineer, and we do not sell its tickets. We provide the road legs around the journey: hotel to station, airport to station, and the transfers from the mountain stops to hotels, airports and onward destinations.
Which station does Rocky Mountaineer use in Vancouver?
Rocky Mountaineer departs from its own Vancouver station, listed at 1755 Cottrell Street, east of the downtown core, not from the Pacific Central Station used by VIA Rail and intercity coaches. Always confirm the departure point and check-in time on your own Rocky Mountaineer documents, because the company sets them for each journey.
The distinction trips up travellers who assume that any train leaves from the central station. It is a short ride between the two, but a wrong address costs time, and that is why we ask for your booking confirmation before the day. For travellers who also need Pacific Central, our Vancouver Pacific Central Station page covers that terminal.
Journey names, schedules and check-in times belong to the train company, so we do not restate them here. Treat your confirmation as the authority, and use this page for the road logistics, fares and honest comparisons.
Rocky Mountaineer station transfer fares in Vancouver
The table uses our rate card before tax, and gratuity is at your discretion. Your pickup address is priced exactly in the online booker.

| Trip | Distance and drive | Executive Sedan (3 pax) | Luxury SUV (6 pax) | Executive Sprinter (12-14 pax) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| YVR to Rocky Mountaineer station | about 17 km, 25-40 min | $145-$175 | $180-$220 | $295-$355 |
| Canada Place hotels or cruise terminal to station | about 4 km, 10-20 min | $145-$175 | $180-$220 | $295-$355 |
| Downtown Vancouver hotel to station | about 4 km, 10-20 min | $145-$175 | $180-$220 | $295-$355 |
Every row here sits at the vehicle's minimum transfer, because the distances are short. Traffic is the main variable, particularly on weekday mornings, so plan the pickup time with a cushion rather than a squeeze.
Getting the timing right on departure morning
Your Rocky Mountaineer confirmation states when you are expected at the station, and that figure is the one that counts. Work backwards from it in three steps.
- Take the check-in time from your documents. That is the time you must be at the station, not the time you leave your hotel.
- Add the drive from your hotel, then a cushion for loading and the morning rush. For a downtown hotel, a cushion of 20 minutes is sensible.
- Add a few minutes for the luggage handoff, and ask the train company in advance how bags are handled, because guests often arrive with several large cases.
If you are flying in on the morning of departure, treat that as a risk and not a plan. Land the day before, and use the airport transfer as a calm, scheduled event. Our Vancouver airport limo page explains how pickup works at YVR, with 60 minutes of free wait after an international landing and 30 minutes after a domestic one.
Rocky Mountaineer arrivals: Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper
Guests who ride east end up in the mountains, and the next question is how to get from the station to a hotel. Jasper's official tourism site confirms that Rocky Mountaineer is one of two rail services that serve the town, alongside VIA Rail, and says that SunDog Tours runs bus service from the Calgary and Edmonton airports. For Banff and Lake Louise, confirm the arrival point on your documents and send it to us.

A pre-booked car meets you at the station or at the coach drop point and takes you to your hotel. We recommend sending us your arrival day and your hotel name in advance, so the chauffeur has the property's arrival procedure on file. See our hotel guides for Fairmont Banff Springs, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise and Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, which describe the arrival points, and note that we have no affiliation with those hotels.
Fares from the mountain stops
These ranges cover the usual onward legs from the Rockies end of a rail trip. The distances are planning figures.
| Trip | Distance and drive | Executive Sedan (3 pax) | Luxury SUV (6 pax) | Executive Sprinter (12-14 pax) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Banff to Lake Louise | about 58 km, 45-55 min | $270-$320 | $340-$410 | $480-$575 |
| Banff to Calgary International (YYC) | about 130 km, 1.5-1.75 hr | $605-$720 | $760-$915 | $1,070-$1,285 |
| Lake Louise to Calgary International (YYC) | about 185 km, 2-2.25 hr | $860-$1,025 | $1,080-$1,305 | $1,525-$1,830 |
| Jasper to Lake Louise | about 230 km, 2.5-3 hr | $1,070-$1,275 | $1,345-$1,620 | $1,900-$2,275 |
| Jasper to Banff | about 290 km, 3.25-4 hr | $1,350-$1,610 | $1,695-$2,045 | $2,390-$2,870 |
| Jasper to Edmonton (YEG) | about 365 km, 4-4.5 hr | $1,695-$2,025 | $2,135-$2,575 | $3,010-$3,615 |
Mountain driving is slower than the kilometre count suggests, especially in winter, in roadworks and in wildlife zones. Our Calgary airport limo, Edmonton airport limo and Calgary airport to Banff pages give airport-end detail.
Cheapest ways to reach the Vancouver station, compared

| Option | Cost level | Time | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| SkyTrain or transit plus a short walk or taxi | Lowest | Longer, with luggage handling | Solo travellers with one case |
| Taxi or rideshare from a downtown hotel | Moderate | Short | Short-notice trips, light luggage |
| Rocky Mountaineer's own arrangements, if offered with your package | Check your confirmation | Per your documents | Guests who prefer a single provider |
| Pre-booked limo or SUV | Premium | Direct, door to curb, on a fixed time | Couples with several bags, families, anniversary and honeymoon trips |
Some packages include transfers or luggage handling, and others do not. Read your confirmation before you book anything, because paying twice for the same leg is a waste.
When transit or a taxi is enough
If you are staying downtown, travelling alone and carrying one suitcase, a taxi is fast and inexpensive for a 4 km trip, and a limousine is more than you need. If your package includes a transfer, use it.
A private car earns its fee when you are bringing several bags, when you want to be certain of the time, when you are travelling with a mobility need, or when the trip is a celebration and the arrival is part of the memory. A Luxury SUV at $180-$220 for a short city run is not much more than two taxis for a couple with luggage. Our limo versus rideshare page discusses the trade-offs.
Luggage: ask the train company first
Rocky Mountaineer sets its own luggage rules, including limits, labelling and how bags are handled between hotel, station and next stop. Check them before you pack, and tell us how many bags and what size you are bringing so we can match the vehicle. An Executive Sedan seats 3 and handles 2 large bags and 2 carry-ons. A Luxury SUV takes 5 to 6 large bags and seats 6. A Sprinter takes 12 or more bags and seats 12 to 14.

If you plan to buy souvenirs in the mountains, or you are travelling with skis or golf clubs, mention it when you book. Child seats are provided at no charge when asked for in advance.
Park rules at the mountain end
Banff and Jasper are national parks, and a chauffeur drive through them follows park rules. Parks Canada's Banff National Park page says reservations are required for the Lake Louise and Moraine Lake shuttle, and prohibits recreational drones. Its Jasper National Park page lists a Jasper Information Centre at 500 Connaught Drive and notes that regular park fees apply from September 8, 2026.
We include relevant park requirements in your booking details, but visitors remain responsible for their own passes. Our guides to Banff, Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, the Icefields Parkway, the Banff National Park guide and the Jasper National Park guide go into passes, seasons and wildlife rules.
Honeymoons, anniversaries and other celebrations
A Rocky Mountaineer journey is often chosen for a milestone, and the road legs can match the occasion. A couple can arrive at the station in a Luxury SUV or an Executive Sedan, be met at the end of the rail leg by a chauffeur and continue to a mountain hotel without handling a single transfer themselves. For a larger family celebration, a stretch limousine seats 8 to 10 guests at $225-$300 per hour with a three-hour minimum.
Tell us about the occasion when you book, along with the number of passengers and bags. We will not turn a transfer into a theatre production, but small touches such as a prompt arrival, the right vehicle and a clear plan make a trip feel considered. See the fleet and limo rates pages for details.
Winter and shoulder-season roads in the Rockies
Mountain roads change with the season. Snow, ice and wildlife can slow the drives in the fare table, and the drive from Jasper to Banff or Lake Louise is long enough that a single unexpected closure changes the day. Before any long mountain transfer, check the road conditions published by Parks Canada and the provincial authorities, and allow generous time.
We build extra time into winter quotes and will tell you if a plan looks too tight. If a road is closed, we will contact you about options, which may include a later departure, a different route or a change of pickup point. Our Calgary airport to Banff page covers that corridor in more detail.
Rail and road: combining a Rockies journey
Many guests pair a Rocky Mountaineer journey with a chauffeured road trip. A typical pattern is to ride the train in one direction and drive the other, so you see the same mountains from two angles. Another is to take the train through the mountains and then continue by car to a hotel stay, a spa or a day in the national park.
For a drive along the Icefields Parkway, an hourly booking is usually better value than a point-to-point fare because you pay for time at viewpoints rather than extra transfers. For hourly work, sedan time is $135-$165 an hour on a two-hour minimum, SUV time is $175-$210 on two hours and Sprinter time is $240-$295 on three. Stretch limousines run $225-$300 an hour, and mini-coaches $300-$420 an hour, with minimums of three and four hours.
Cruise-and-rail days in Vancouver
Cruise passengers frequently add a Rocky Mountaineer journey before or after a voyage. The Canada Place terminal is about 4 km from the station, so a cruise-to-rail transfer is a minimum fare. Our Canada Place cruise terminal page explains embarkation and disembarkation logistics.
On a combined day, give us your ship's disembarkation window and your train check-in time, and we will advise whether the two fit. If the gap is tight, we recommend an extra night in Vancouver. A calm evening is worth the price of a hotel room.
Cancellation terms for a rail-day booking
If your plans change, here is our schedule, measured from the scheduled pickup time: more than 72 hours' notice, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10%; 48 hours or less, 50%; 24 hours or less or no-show, 100%. Rocky Mountaineer's own change and cancellation rules are set by the train company, so read your confirmation separately.
Frequently asked questions

How much is a limo from YVR to the Rocky Mountaineer station?
About 17 km. The sedan is $145-$175, the SUV $180-$220 and the Sprinter $295-$355. Taxes are extra, and the booker prices the exact fare for your address.
Can you pick up from the train at Banff or Jasper?
Yes. Send us your arrival day, hotel and the train's scheduled arrival, and we will plan the pickup. Confirm the exact pickup point with your Rocky Mountaineer documents.

About 130 km. Expect $605-$720 in a sedan, $760-$915 in an SUV and $1,070-$1,285 in a Sprinter.
Do you sell Rocky Mountaineer tickets?
No. We are not affiliated with Rocky Mountaineer. We provide the chauffeured road transfers around your journey.

Parks Canada says the Lake Louise and Moraine Lake shuttle requires reservations. Check its Banff page for current access rules before you plan a visit.
Do you offer a meet-and-greet at the station?
We meet you at the curb or the agreed pickup point and send you the vehicle details by message. A name-board meet-and-greet is an add-on of $100-$150 and applies to airport arrivals halls.
What if my train is late?
Tell your chauffeur or message us, and we will adjust the pickup around the revised arrival time.
