Limo rates in Canada follow two simple models: a per-kilometre price for one-way transfers, and a per-hour price for time on the clock. This guide explains both, shows the arithmetic on 13 real routes, and covers what moves a fare up or down, how tax differs between provinces and how tipping works. Every figure is in Canadian dollars before tax, with distance and drive time beside it. The online booker turns each range into one exact all-in fare for your address, and you can get an instant fare at any point.
How much does a limo cost in Canada?
A limo in Canada costs $145–$175 for a short sedan airport transfer, $180–$220 in a luxury SUV, and $225–$300 per hour for a stretch limousine with a three-hour minimum. Longer transfers are $4.65–$5.55 per kilometre in a sedan. Prices exclude tax, tolls and gratuity.
That answer covers most searches, including how much a limo costs per hour and what an airport limo rate looks like. The detail is in the rate card.
The limo rate card, explained

| Vehicle | Seats and bags | Per kilometre | Minimum transfer | Hourly (minimum) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Executive Sedan | 3 passengers, 2 large bags and 2 carry-ons | $4.65–$5.55 | $145–$175 | $135–$165 (2 hr) |
| Luxury SUV | 6 passengers, 5–6 large bags | $5.85–$7.05 | $180–$220 | $175–$210 (2 hr) |
| Executive Sprinter | 12–14 passengers, 12+ bags | $8.25–$9.90 | $295–$355 | $240–$295 (3 hr) |
| Stretch limousine | 8–10 passengers | Hourly only | Hourly only | $225–$300 (3 hr) |
| Mini-coach or party bus | 20–30 passengers | Hourly only | Hourly only | $300–$420 (4 hr) |
Each rate is a range because the exact figure depends on the pickup address, the date and time, and the route. The booker resolves the range to one number before you confirm, so there is nothing to negotiate at the curb.
To calculate a transfer, multiply the kilometres by the low rate and by the high rate. If either result is below the minimum, the minimum applies. Round to the nearest $5. A 100 km sedan transfer is 100 × $4.65 = $465 and 100 × $5.55 = $555, so the range is $465–$555.
Why the minimum transfer matters
The minimum is the figure most customers pay, because most Canadian airports are within 30 km of the city core. The break-even point sits at about 31 km for the sedan and SUV and about 35.5 km for the Sprinter. Below that distance the minimum applies, so a 5 km hop costs the same as a 28 km run. Above it, the distance rate takes over.

This is also why a short transfer is relatively expensive per kilometre and a long transfer is relatively cheap. A 13 km run in a sedan at $145–$175 works out to roughly $7 to $9 per kilometre. A 200 km run at $930–$1,110 is about $4.65 to $5.55.
Airport limo rates: the common routes
Here is the arithmetic on the airport runs that most travellers book. For the full airport list, see the airport limo page.

| Route | Distance | Typical time | Sedan | SUV | Sprinter |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Toronto Pearson to downtown Toronto | 27 km | 30–50 min | $145–$175 | $180–$220 | $295–$355 |
| Vancouver YVR to downtown Vancouver | 13 km | 25–40 min | $145–$175 | $180–$220 | $295–$355 |
| Montréal-Trudeau to downtown Montréal | 20 km | 25–45 min | $145–$175 | $180–$220 | $295–$355 |
| Calgary YYC to downtown Calgary | 17 km | 20–30 min | $145–$175 | $180–$220 | $295–$355 |
| Edmonton YEG to downtown Edmonton | 30 km | 30–45 min | $145–$175 | $180–$220 | $295–$355 |
| Halifax Stanfield to downtown Halifax | 35 km | 35–45 min | $165–$195 | $205–$250 | $295–$355 |
| Hamilton airport to downtown Toronto | 70 km | 1 hr–1 hr 20 min | $325–$390 | $415–$495 | $580–$690 |
Distances are approximate road kilometres to the city core and will change with the exact address.
Toronto airport limo flat rate: Pearson to downtown
For the most searched airport route in the country, the answer is $145–$175 in a sedan and $180–$220 in an SUV for the 27 km run between Toronto Pearson and a downtown hotel. That is the minimum transfer, since the calculated range ($126–$150 at the sedan rates) falls below it. The 407 ETR toll is added if the route uses it, and the booker shows it before you confirm. Full detail on terminals and pickup is on the Pearson airport limo page, and the Toronto airport limo page summarises the city options.

Intercity and day-trip rates: worked examples
Long runs are where the per-kilometre rate takes over. These six routes show the range for each vehicle.
| Route | Distance | Typical time | Sedan | SUV | Sprinter |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vancouver to Whistler | 120 km | About 1 hr 40 min | $555–$670 | $705–$850 | $990–$1,185 |
| Toronto to Niagara Falls | 130 km | 75–95 min | $610–$720 | $760–$915 | $1,075–$1,290 |
| Calgary to Banff | 130 km | About 90 min | $610–$720 | $760–$915 | $1,075–$1,290 |
| Ottawa to Montréal | 200 km | 2 hr 5 min–2 hr 25 min | $930–$1,110 | $1,170–$1,410 | $1,650–$1,980 |
| Montréal to Québec City | 255 km | 2 hr 45 min–3 hr | $1,185–$1,420 | $1,495–$1,800 | $2,100–$2,530 |
| Toronto to Ottawa | 450 km | 4.5–5 hr | $2,095–$2,500 | $2,635–$3,175 | $3,715–$4,455 |
Whistler's tourism site puts the Vancouver drive at about 120 km and roughly 1 hour 40 minutes in clear conditions. The Toronto to Ottawa figures, about 450 km and 4.5 to 5 hours, come from Ottawa Tourism. Banff is about 90 minutes from Calgary, according to Banff and Lake Louise Tourism. The rest are mainstream road distances that vary with the exact start and end points.

Limo rental cost per hour
Hourly rates apply when you want the vehicle at your disposal rather than a one-way trip. They are the right model for weddings, tours, business days, wine country and event nights.
| Vehicle | Hourly rate | Minimum | Minimum cost | Typical booking | Typical cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Executive Sedan | $135–$165 | 2 hr | $270–$330 | 8 hr business day | $1,080–$1,320 |
| Luxury SUV | $175–$210 | 2 hr | $345–$420 | 4 hr evening | $690–$840 |
| Executive Sprinter | $240–$295 | 3 hr | $720–$880 | 6 hr group day | $1,440–$1,755 |
| Stretch limousine | $225–$300 | 3 hr | $675–$900 | 5 hr wedding | $1,125–$1,500 |
| Mini-coach or party bus | $300–$420 | 4 hr | $1,200–$1,680 | 5 hr event | $1,500–$2,100 |
When a limo rental cost per hour looks lower elsewhere, check what the quote leaves out. Compare the same hours, the same vehicle and the same list of taxes, tolls and gratuity. A low headline rate can hide extras that a clear all-in fare does not.
What changes a limo fare
The ranges above assume a standard trip. These factors move the final number, and the booker includes each of them in the all-in fare it shows.
- Tolls. Toll roads such as the 407 ETR near Toronto are extra to the rate card. If your route uses one, the toll is added.
- Waiting. Each airport pickup includes free waiting: 60 minutes after an international landing and 30 minutes after a domestic one. Time beyond that is quoted before it is added. On hourly bookings, waiting is simply time on the clock.
- Extra stops. A second or third pickup or drop-off changes the route and can change the kilometres. Add every stop at booking.
- Late night and holidays. Overnight, long-weekend and holiday bookings are in higher demand, and the exact fare reflects that. The booker shows the result for your date and time.
- Meet-and-greet. A name-board greeting inside the arrivals hall adds $100–$150.
- Child seats. Free when requested at booking.
- Vehicle choice. Moving from a sedan to an SUV adds $35–$45 at the minimum, and moving from an SUV to a Sprinter adds $115–$135.
Taxes on limo service by province
Sales tax is added to the fare, and the rate depends on the province where the service is provided. The federal GST is 5% everywhere, and the provincial part differs.
| Province | Tax on the fare | On a $175 fare |
|---|---|---|
| Ontario | 13% HST | $197.75 |
| Nova Scotia | 14% HST since April 1, 2025 | $199.50 |
| New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island | 15% HST | $201.25 |
| Québec | 5% GST plus 9.975% QST | $201.21 |
| Alberta | 5% GST | $183.75 |
| British Columbia | 5% GST, plus PST where it applies | $183.75 before any PST |
| Saskatchewan | 5% GST, plus PST where it applies | $183.75 before any PST |
| Manitoba | 5% GST, plus retail sales tax where it applies | $183.75 before any tax |
Two notes on that table. First, the Atlantic provinces are no longer uniformly 15%. Nova Scotia lowered its HST to 14% on April 1, 2025, as noted by the Canada Revenue Agency, while New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island remain at 15%. Ontario is 13%.
Second, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba run their own provincial sales taxes, at 7%, 6% and 7%, but those taxes apply to defined lists of goods and services. Whether and how a chauffeured transfer is taxed depends on each province's rules and on how the booking is structured. Rather than guess, the booker applies the taxes that match your trip and shows them inside the all-in total. Check the booker result before you rely on any hand calculation.
Gratuity: what is normal
Gratuity is not included in any rate on this page, and it is entirely at your discretion. Customers commonly add 15% to 20% for a chauffeured trip when service has been good, and many add more for a long day, heavy luggage or a driver who solves a problem. For hourly bookings, some clients tip a flat amount instead.
Limo vs taxi vs rideshare: what you actually pay
A fixed range is easier to plan around than a meter or a surge multiplier, but it is not always lower. Here is the comparison for one well-documented route, the 13 km run from Vancouver International Airport to downtown. The figures come from the Vancouver tourism guide and the TransLink Canada Line page.
| Option | Cost range | Time | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Canada Line SkyTrain | About $10.50 one way, including the airport fare | About 26 min to Waterfront | Solo travellers, light luggage |
| Taxi, downtown flat zone | About $36–$38 | 25–35 min | Short trips, no booking needed |
| Rideshare, normal demand | About $40–$55 | 25–35 min, longer at rush hour | Light luggage, flexible timing |
| Rideshare, surge | About $80–$100 | Same | Nobody, if avoidable |
| Executive sedan | $145–$175 | 25–40 min | Luggage, early or late flights, certainty |
| Luxury SUV | $180–$220 | 25–40 min | Families, groups of four to six |
The honest reading: for one person with one bag, the train is the best value and a flat-rate taxi is next. The private car costs more, so it needs a reason, such as luggage, a group, a flight outside train hours or the need for a guaranteed price. For four people with four bags, an SUV at $180–$220 compares well with two taxis. The same logic applies in Toronto, where UP Express costs $12.35 for an adult ticket, per UP Express.

How to get the exact rate for your trip
Rate cards are useful for planning, but the exact figure depends on your addresses. To get it:
- Open the booker and enter the pickup and drop-off addresses.
- Enter the date and time, plus the flight number for an airport pickup.
- Choose the vehicle and add extras.
- Read the all-in fare, which includes tax and any toll.
- Confirm only when the fare, vehicle and times are right.
You can compare vehicles on the fleet page, see the full range of services on the limo service page, and read city-specific advice for Toronto limo and Vancouver limo.
Cancellation terms that affect your total
A rate is only useful if the terms are clear. More than 72 hours' notice carries no charge. If you cancel at 72 hours or less, 10% applies. At 48 hours or less it rises to 50%, and at 24 hours or less, or on a no-show, it is 100%. The clock runs back from the scheduled pickup time.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a limo cost per hour in Canada?
A stretch limousine is $225–$300 per hour with a three-hour minimum. An executive sedan is $135–$165 and a luxury SUV $175–$210, both with a two-hour minimum. A Sprinter is $240–$295 with a three-hour minimum, and a mini-coach or party bus is $300–$420 with a four-hour minimum.
What is the airport limo flat rate from Toronto Pearson?
The run from Pearson to downtown Toronto is about 27 km and costs $145–$175 in a sedan or $180–$220 in an SUV, before tax, tolls and tip. The minimum transfer applies. The booker shows the exact figure for your hotel or address.
Why is a short limo ride the same price as a medium one?
Because a minimum transfer applies. A sedan minimum is $145–$175, which covers any run up to about 31 km. A 5 km hotel transfer and a 28 km airport run cost the same. Beyond that distance the per-kilometre rate applies.
Is the tip included in limo rates?
No. Gratuity is at your discretion. Many customers add 15% to 20% for good service. Rates also exclude tax and tolls, which the booker adds to the all-in total.
How is tax applied to a limo fare in Canada?
GST is 5% across the country. Ontario's HST is 13%, Nova Scotia's is 14% and New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island charge 15%. Québec adds 9.975% QST to GST. In BC, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, provincial sales tax rules vary, so the booker applies the correct taxes.
Are limo rates higher at night or on holidays?
Overnight, long-weekend and holiday bookings are in higher demand, and the exact fare reflects that. The ranges on this page are the planning figures; the booker shows the all-in fare for the exact date and time before you confirm.
Are limos cheaper than taxis or Uber?
Not for a solo traveller with one bag, where a train or flat-rate taxi is cheaper. For a family of four with luggage, or for a flight outside train hours, an SUV at $180–$220 compares well. A fixed fare also removes surge risk.
What does it cost to hire a limo for a wedding?
A stretch limousine is $225–$300 per hour with a three-hour minimum, so a five-hour wedding day is $1,125–$1,500 before tax and tip. A Sprinter for a larger wedding party is $240–$295 per hour with a three-hour minimum.
