Prince Edward Island rewards a visitor who arrives without stress, and Charlottetown Alexander B. Campbell Airport (YYG) makes a calm start possible. A Charlottetown airport limo suits the trips a taxi handles poorly: a wedding party landing across three flights, golf bags and a family heading to Cavendish, a business team with a full schedule, or a couple who want to be met and driven in comfort to the north shore. LimousineCanada.ca books sedans, SUVs and Executive Sprinters across the island, and the fare is clear before you commit.

Charlottetown airport limo service: what we cover

Our island service has four parts. The first is the airport meeting, with flight tracking and a driver in touch when you land. The second is the short run to Charlottetown and its harbour. The third is the north shore, including Brackley Beach and Cavendish. The fourth is the long-distance work: the Confederation Bridge, the Wood Islands ferry, Summerside and the airports and stations beyond the island.

Because the airport is small and its curb arrangements are simple, the quality of a pickup depends mostly on communication, and that is what pre-booking provides. You get a name, a number and a plan before you leave home.

How much is a limo from Charlottetown airport to downtown?

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island
Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island

Charlottetown Airport is about 7 km from downtown Charlottetown, a drive of around 10 minutes. A pre-booked airport limo costs $145–$175 in an Executive Sedan, $180–$220 in a Luxury SUV and $295–$355 in an Executive Sprinter, before tax. The airport's regulated taxi fare for the same trip is much lower.

Be clear about this at the outset: the airport publishes regulated taxi fares, with a flat $20 for the Charlottetown zone, $30 for the Stratford or Cornwall zones and a maximum of $30 within Charlottetown and $40 for Stratford and Cornwall. A chauffeured car cannot compete on price for a one-person trip to a hotel in town. It competes on certainty, capacity and service. The table below shows what each longer run costs.

Distances are approximate road figures for planning. Tolls and the ferry or bridge charges are paid separately where they apply, and gratuity is at your discretion.

Taxi, rideshare or chauffeur: who wins at YYG

The airport's ground transportation page lists a long roster of options. Eight taxi companies serve the airport, the rideshare apps listed are Kari and Uride, and several tour and charter operators run buses, shuttles and limousines from the arrivals door. The page notes that no hotel shuttles are currently operating, which matters if your hotel normally offers one.

Rental carDaily rate plus fuelSelf-driveTouring the island over several days
Pre-booked chauffeured car$145–$175 sedan, $180–$220 SUVAbout 10 minGroups, set schedules, weddings, long island runs

The honest answer: for a straightforward trip into town, take the regulated taxi. For a wedding, a corporate group, a multi-stop evening, a run to the ferry or a trip across the bridge, the chauffeured car wins on convenience, vehicle size and a guaranteed pickup. If you are weighing the two approaches for other cities, limo vs rideshare sets out the factors.

Meeting your driver at the arrivals door

According to the airport, pick-ups for buses, shuttles and limousines happen outside the arrivals door. That is where the chauffeur meets you unless you add the meet-and-greet, which places a driver with a name board inside the hall for $100–$150. We recommend it for guests who have never been to the island, for older travellers and for arrivals timed to a ceremony.

The airport is in the middle of a $44 million expansion that includes a new check-in hall and, according to its website, is expected to finish in June 2027. Construction can change curb arrangements without much notice, so we send the exact meeting point the day before your trip. Airlines named on the airport's own flight boards are Air Canada and Porter, and the airport's wider schedule includes seasonal summer service.

Which vehicle suits your party

An Executive Sedan seats three passengers with two large bags and two carry-ons, which suits a couple or a solo executive. A Luxury SUV seats six with five or six large suitcases, and it is the most common choice for island holidays because it takes golf bags, beach gear and strollers. An Executive Sprinter seats 12 to 14 passengers with more than a dozen bags, and it moves a wedding party or a company retreat in one go.

If you are bringing children, child seats are provided free of charge when you ask for them at booking. Ages and weights in the notes let us install the right seat. The fleet page shows the vehicle classes and limo rates shows how the fares are built.

North shore day: Brackley Beach, Cavendish and Green Gables

The north shore is the island's best-known holiday coast. Green Gables Heritage Place in Cavendish, at 8619 Route 6, is the house associated with L.M. Montgomery and the novel Anne of Green Gables. Parks Canada lists the site as open from May to October, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, with a daily admission fee that varies by period. Prince Edward Island National Park, known for cliff and dune beaches, woodlands and wetlands, lies alongside. See the Parks Canada page for Green Gables Heritage Place before you go.

Cavendish is about 35 km from YYG, around 35 minutes. A day from the airport or a Charlottetown hotel works best on an hourly basis: a SUV at $175–$210 per hour for six hours is $1,050–$1,260, or $175–$210 per head across six people. Stops often include Green Gables, a beach walk and a seafood lunch before returning in the late afternoon.

Downtown Charlottetown: Confederation Centre and the harbour

Downtown is compact. The Confederation Centre of the Arts, at 145 Richmond Street, houses a gallery open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with Thursday evenings by donation, and a programme of theatre and performances at its Sobey Family Theatre. The harbour and the seaport are a short walk, and the streets around them are the main evening zone.

On a show night, a chauffeured car makes sense for a group that wants the dinner reservation, the performance and the return to a hotel outside town to flow without a scramble. We recommend a time-based wait of two to three hours at $135–$165 per hour in a sedan. That is distinct from a straight transfer, which is cheaper but ends at the door.

Cruise days at the Port of Charlottetown

Cruise ships dock at the Port of Charlottetown, and the island's tourism office points visitors to the seaport for updates. Cruise passengers who fly in for a sailing and passengers heading home often need a run between the airport and the harbour. Our Charlottetown cruise port page covers the berth, the walk into the downtown core and the timing of shore excursions. For shore days, a Sprinter booked by the hour carries a family or a group to Cavendish and back at a pace that coach tours cannot match.

Crossing the Confederation Bridge and the Wood Islands ferry

The Confederation Bridge is 12.9 km long and takes about ten minutes to cross, linking Prince Edward Island to New Brunswick at Borden-Carleton. The toll is collected only when you leave the island. The bridge authority publishes live wind conditions, and it limits high-sided vehicles depending on wind speed and direction, so a Sprinter may be held when a SUV is allowed through. Check Confederation Bridge before you travel, and read the island's getting here guide.

The Wood Islands ferry to Caribou, Nova Scotia, takes 75 minutes and runs from May to mid-December, with a fare collected on departure from Wood Islands. Reservations are recommended in peak season. A chauffeured car can take you from YYG to the terminal, about 65 km and 55 minutes, and hand you off for the crossing. For the mainland end of a trip, see our Moncton Airport page and Halifax Stanfield Airport page.

Island seasons: when to book early

Prince Edward Island is a seasonal destination, and demand for vehicles follows the calendar. Green Gables Heritage Place opens from May to October, the Wood Islands ferry sails from May to mid-December and the summer weekends fill every road to the north shore. Late June to early September is the period to book earliest, particularly if you need a Sprinter on a Friday or Saturday.

Shoulder seasons are quieter and often kinder to the budget of the day. Autumn brings fewer crowds to Cavendish, and winter brings short days and weather that can change a bridge or ferry plan in an afternoon. If your trip depends on a particular crossing, give yourself a buffer day on either side, and let us know in the notes so the pickup time can be adjusted if a restriction is announced.

Visitors who plan a second leg beyond the island should also note that the seasonal flights shown on the airport's boards change from year to year. Check the airline schedule when you book, then enter the final flight number in the booker so tracking works from the first day.

Weddings, golf and corporate groups

Summer weddings on the island often involve guests who arrive on different flights over a weekend. Assign a Sprinter or SUV to each wave, and keep a stretch limousine for the couple at $225–$300 per hour with a three-hour minimum. For groups of 20 to 30, a mini-coach is $300–$420 per hour with a four-hour minimum. Our wedding limo page describes timelines for ceremony, photographs and reception.

Golf groups benefit from luggage capacity above all else, and a Sprinter handles bags for a full foursome and then some. Corporate teams use hourly bookings to keep a driver with them from meeting to dinner. The corporate car service page explains accounts and invoicing.

Border formalities, delays and flight tracking

Charlottetown Airport is an airport of entry with a Canada Border Services Agency office, so any seasonal international arrivals clear on site. We follow the flight number you give us. The free waiting time after landing is 60 minutes for international arrivals and 30 minutes for domestic arrivals, counted from touchdown. If you are travelling with minors or are not a Canadian citizen, the CBSA's guide to travel documents lists what to carry.

For travel outside your own flight, such as a delayed ferry or a bridge wind restriction, tell us in the booking notes and we adjust the plan.

Booking and cancellation

Enter your addresses, flight number and passenger count in the booker for the exact all-in fare. For cancellations, the clock is the scheduled pickup time: no charge beyond 72 hours' notice, then 10% at 72 hours or less, 50% at 48 hours or less and 100% at 24 hours or less or for a no-show. For the whole network, see the airports index or the airport limo page.
