Kelowna airport limo service for the whole Okanagan

Kelowna International Airport (YLW) is the front door to the Okanagan Valley, and a Kelowna airport limo from LimousineCanada.ca is the simplest way through it. Passengers land here for very different reasons: a long weekend on the lake, a wine trip to Naramata, a week at Big White, a vineyard wedding or a business day downtown. None of them is well served by a queue after a flight.

Our Kelowna airport car service is pre-arranged. You choose the vehicle on our own booker, enter your flight number, and receive a fixed fare before you pay. A driver is assigned to track your flight, meets you at an agreed point, loads the bags and takes you where you are going. The same driver can wait, return, or turn the booking into an hourly day if you would rather spend an afternoon among the wineries than count the minutes.

Below you will find what the airport looks like on the ground, what each common trip costs, and how the alternatives compare. If a shuttle or a taxi is a better fit for your plan, we say so.

How far is Kelowna airport from downtown Kelowna?

Kelowna International Airport is about 11 to 14 km north-east of downtown Kelowna, roughly a 15 to 20 minute drive on Highway 97. The exact distance depends on which part of the city you are heading to. Lakefront hotels are the closer end of that range.

That short distance is a real advantage, and Highway 97 carries you most of the way. Rush hour is the one thing that stretches the trip, particularly on the main routes through the city.

The airport is also well placed for the rest of the valley. Vernon is to the north, West Kelowna lies across the lake via the William R. Bennett Bridge, and Penticton is to the south. Everything beyond downtown is covered further down this page.

Kelowna airport car service fares from YLW

Fares below come from our standard rate card: distance multiplied by a per-kilometre rate, never lower than the vehicle's minimum. Prices are in CAD, exclusive of tax, and gratuity is optional. Distances are approximate road distances, and the booker calculates the exact fare for the address you enter.

Mountain runs and winter conditions can add time, not cost: the fare is fixed, but the booker will suggest a pickup time with a buffer when roads are likely to be slow. For full pricing including hourly rates, see our limo rates page, and for seating and luggage by vehicle the fleet page.

Where your chauffeur meets you at Kelowna airport

YLW has a single terminal on two levels. Departures are upstairs; arrivals are on the ground floor, where baggage claim, the customs hall for international flights and the car rental counters are found. The layout is compact, and you can usually walk from the gate to the kerb in a few minutes if you have no checked bags.

The airport's ground transportation page gives each service its own zone. Taxis and limousines wait at the front kerb, licensed shuttle buses stand outside the south terminal entrance near security, and ride-hailing pickups are at the north end of the terminal outside Arrivals. Your driver will normally meet you at the front kerb, and your booking confirmation states the exact point for your flight.

For a more guided arrival, add the name-board meet and greet at $100 to $150: your driver stands inside the arrivals hall, helps with bags and walks you to the vehicle. It suits first-time visitors, families and anyone arriving after a long-haul connection.

The airport is also in the middle of a terminal expansion, with the first phase expected to finish in late 2026. That can move signs and kerbs from one month to the next, which is another reason we send current pickup instructions with every confirmation rather than relying on a fixed description.

Kelowna airport limo to the West Kelowna wineries

The Westside Wine Trail is the nearest wine route to the airport and the easiest first day for a visitor: across the William R. Bennett Bridge, the West Kelowna estates sit on the hills above the lake. The wine trail association describes the area as about ten minutes from downtown Kelowna, which puts the whole circuit comfortably within an hour of the terminal.

The problem with a wine day is the one everybody knows: nobody wants to be the designated driver. A chauffeur solves that. You can book a point-to-point transfer to a single estate, or hold a vehicle on an hourly basis for a longer day. A Luxury SUV is $175 to $210 per hour on a two-hour minimum; a stretch limousine for a party of eight to ten is $225 to $300 per hour on a three-hour minimum.

Tasting fees are set by each winery and are not part of our fare. Many estates ask you to reserve in advance, so tell us the order of the stops.

Naramata Bench wine tours with a private chauffeur

Further south, the Naramata Bench is the other great wine district of the Okanagan, with dozens of small wineries packed along a ribbon of road above Okanagan Lake. Regional guides put the village about 15 to 16 km north of Penticton, and count more than 40 wineries in a stretch of under 20 km.

Vineyard above an Okanagan lake
Vineyard above an Okanagan lake

From the airport the Naramata Bench is a longer day, around 90 km each way, so most guests either stay a night in Penticton or Naramata or plan an early start. A sedan transfer is $420 to $505 each way, an SUV $525 to $640 and a Sprinter $745 to $895. Many groups prefer to book a car on an hourly basis for the winery stops themselves: $175 to $210 per hour in an SUV, $240 to $295 per hour in an Executive Sprinter with a three-hour minimum.

The road along the Bench is winding with a mostly 50 km/h limit and 30 km/h through the village, which is slow going for a driver who is trying to concentrate on a tasting notebook. Leave the driving to someone else.

Big White transfers from Kelowna airport

Big White Ski Resort is about 60 km from the airport. The resort's own guide describes a drive of roughly 50 to 55 minutes: Highway 33 east out of Kelowna, followed by about 20 minutes on the winding Big White Road. Its airport shuttle takes about 55 minutes, and it recommends reserving the shuttle more than seven days ahead in peak season.

A private Big White transfer is the better fit when you are a group with skis, boards and boot bags. A Luxury SUV carries six passengers with five or six large bags and handles ski equipment better than a taxi sedan. A Sprinter is sensible for eight or more. The fare is fixed at $280 to $330 for a sedan, $355 to $420 for an SUV, and $495 to $595 for a Sprinter.

Plan the pickup around the road, not the clock. Mountain weather can slow the final climb. The resort advises filling up before the ascent since there are no fuel stations at the village, which is another small argument for letting a driver deal with it. Read the resort's guide to getting there for the shuttle and arrival details it publishes.

Silver Star, Vernon and the north Okanagan

Silver Star Mountain Resort is about 22 km north-east of Vernon, and sources place it roughly 60 to 67 km from the airport, a drive of just under an hour to a little over one hour depending on weather and traffic. The usual route is north on Highway 97 through Vernon and then up Silver Star Road.

Vernon itself is about 42 km from the airport, and Tourism Kelowna says it is under an hour from the city by Highway 97. Whether you are heading to a Vernon hotel, a lakeside wedding or the ski hill beyond, the run follows the same highway. A Sprinter suits wedding groups; the Luxury SUV suits a family with ski gear.

Penticton and the south Okanagan

South of Kelowna, Highway 97 runs down the western shore of Okanagan Lake to Summerland and Penticton. Tourism Kelowna lists Penticton as under an hour from the city. From the airport it is about 75 km, which fits a drive of an hour to an hour and ten minutes in normal conditions.

Okanagan Lake at Kelowna

Highway 97 and the connecting roads have been affected by landslides in past years, so check DriveBC before a long run. When a closure is announced, the booker's suggested pickup time and your driver's route will adjust. For event days, such as weddings at Penticton lakeside venues, we recommend booking a day before the event and arranging the return leg at the same time.

What is the cheapest way to get from Kelowna airport to downtown?

The cheapest way from Kelowna airport to downtown is a BC Transit bus, which is a fraction of the cost of any car. Published guides put a taxi to downtown at about $27 to $36. A pre-booked private sedan is $145 to $175 and brings a fixed fare, flight tracking and a hand with the bags.

The airport's ground transportation page lists the available services, and at YLW the picture is straightforward.

ChoiceTypical cost (CAD)Time to downtownWho it suits

Luxury SUV, pre-booked$180-$22015-20 minUp to 6 with large bags

Here is the honest summary. For a plain airport-to-downtown trip with no particular luggage, the taxi or a rideshare is usually the cheaper choice, and the bus is cheaper still. A pre-booked car is not cheaper on a short downtown run. Its value shows up on longer trips, in groups, when the schedule matters, and when the destination is a vineyard or a ski hill rather than a hotel lobby.

Is an airport limo worth it at Kelowna?

For downtown only, many travellers will find a taxi sufficient. The numbers change as soon as the destination moves outside the city. Compared with a taxi at metered rates, a fixed $280 to $330 sedan fare to Big White or $420 to $505 to Naramata has no surprises. Split between three or four people, it is a manageable sum; in a Luxury SUV for six, it is lower per head than most individual shuttle seats on the same route.

Travellers who most often choose a private chauffeur at YLW fall into four groups: ski groups with heavy luggage, wine-trip parties who want a designated driver, wedding guests who need to arrive together, and business travellers who want a named driver and a timed pickup. If you fit none of those, use the taxi.

Winter, smoke and flight delays at YLW

Okanagan weather is seasonal. Winter snow affects the mountain roads more than the valley floor; summer wildfire smoke and fire activity can disrupt flights, and in 2023 wildfires temporarily closed local airspace. None of that is rare enough to ignore.

Your driver follows the flight number, not a fixed pickup time. If the plane is late, the car waits; if it lands early, the pickup moves earlier at no extra cost. Included waiting is 60 minutes from landing for international arrivals and 30 minutes for domestic flights. If the airline cancels the flight, contact us as soon as you know. Our cancellation terms are measured from the scheduled pickup: free more than 72 hours ahead, 10% at 72 hours or less, 50% at 48 hours or less, and 100% at 24 hours or less or for a no-show.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a limo from Kelowna airport to downtown Kelowna?

An Executive Sedan from YLW to downtown Kelowna is $145 to $175 before tax, a Luxury SUV is $180 to $220 and an Executive Sprinter is $295 to $355. The distance is about 12 km and takes 15 to 20 minutes. The booker gives the precise fare for your hotel address.

How far is Kelowna airport from Big White?

Big White is about 60 km from Kelowna airport. The resort's own guide describes a drive of roughly 50 to 55 minutes via Highway 33 and Big White Road. A private sedan is $280 to $330 and a Luxury SUV $355 to $420, both fixed fares. Winter weather can add time.

Can I book a chauffeur for a Naramata Bench wine tour from the airport?

Yes. Naramata is about 90 km from the airport, and a sedan transfer is $420 to $505 each way. For the winery stops themselves, hold a vehicle hourly: $175 to $210 per hour in an SUV, or $240 to $295 per hour in a Sprinter, with minimums. Tasting fees are separate.

Where do limousines pick up at Kelowna airport?

The airport lists taxis and limousines at the front kerb, shuttles outside the south entrance and rideshare at the north end outside Arrivals. Your driver normally meets you at the front kerb, and your booking confirmation gives the exact point for your flight, since kerbs may move during the terminal expansion.

Is there a free waiting period if my flight is late?

Yes. Your driver tracks the flight. Included waiting time starts at landing and is 60 minutes for international arrivals and 30 minutes for domestic ones. If you will be later than that, message your driver, who will stay with the car.

What is the cheapest way to get from the Kelowna airport to the city?

What is the cancellation policy?

More than 72 hours before the scheduled pickup, there is no charge. At 72 hours or less it is 10%, at 48 hours or less it is 50%, and at 24 hours or less, or a no-show, it is 100%. All periods are measured from the scheduled pickup time.

Do you provide child seats?

Yes, at no charge. Mention each child's age and weight in the booking notes and we will fit the right seat.
