An Ottawa airport limo matters more in a capital than in most cities, because so many arrivals are on a schedule that somebody else set: a committee hearing, a state visit, a conference opening, a delegation lunch. Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport (YOW) is south of the core, a short run up the Airport Parkway, but the people who book a chauffeur here are rarely buying distance. They are buying a driver who tracks the flight, a vehicle that is where it should be, and a fixed price.
This page explains how YOW chauffeur pickups work, what the typical routes cost in Canadian dollars (always a range, before tax), and where the O-Train or a taxi is the smarter choice. The online booker confirms the exact fare for your exact address.
What does an Ottawa airport limo cost from YOW?
A sedan from Ottawa airport to downtown, Parliament Hill or the Rideau area is $145–$175 and a Luxury SUV is $180–$220, because every city-core trip falls under the minimum fare. Longer trips, such as Kanata, Montréal or Kingston, are priced per kilometre.
The airport is roughly 15 km from Parliament Hill by road, a 15 to 25 minute drive depending on the hour and the state of the Airport Parkway and Bronson Avenue. The fare is the same whether you are going to the ByWard Market, the Château Laurier area, Sandy Hill or the Glebe.
| Route from YOW | Distance | Typical drive | Executive Sedan (3 pax) | Luxury SUV (6 pax) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Parliament Hill and downtown Ottawa | about 15 km | 15–25 min | $145–$175 | $180–$220 |
| ByWard Market, Rideau Centre, Lowertown | about 16 km | 15–30 min | $145–$175 | $180–$220 |
| Shaw Centre / Colonel By Drive | about 15 km | 15–30 min | $145–$175 | $180–$220 |
| Embassies in Sandy Hill and Rockcliffe Park | about 18 km | 20–35 min | $145–$175 | $180–$220 |
| Gatineau (Hull, Canadian Museum of History) | about 20 km | 20–35 min | $145–$175 | $180–$220 |
| Kanata and the western tech corridor | about 35 km | 30–50 min | $165–$195 | $205–$250 |
Distances are rounded. The booker prices the exact address, including a second stop if you need one.
How a YOW chauffeur pickup works
- Book with your flight number. We track the flight, so early and late arrivals are handled without a call.
- You get your driver and vehicle details ahead of the trip.
- You land, clear customs if needed, and collect your bags. Message your driver when you are on the way out.
- Your driver meets you at the pre-arranged pickup point or, with the meet-and-greet add-on at $100–$150, inside the arrivals hall holding a name board.
- You ride to your address at the fare you were quoted.
Ottawa's airport is a single terminal on three levels, and its authority is firm on where vehicles can load. According to the Ottawa airport's ground transportation page, all licensed transportation operates from Level 1, the arrivals level, and passenger loading is not permitted on Level 3, the departures level. The same page lists a taxi queue outside the centre door and a pre-arranged and limousine pickup at pillars 12 and 13, on the curb furthest from the terminal, with hotel shuttles at pillars 13 to 15. Your driver will confirm the exact point by message, because curb allocations at an airport can change.

Customs, U.S. preclearance and flight delays
Ottawa is one of the ten Canadian sites where U.S. Customs and Border Protection operates preclearance, listed on CBP's preclearance page. That affects your departure, not your arrival. If you are flying out to the United States, you are inspected before you board, so allow more time at the airport on the way out.
On arrival:
- Domestic flights have no border step, so you are typically at the curb as soon as your bags appear.
- International and U.S. arrivals clear Canadian customs in Ottawa. The Canada Border Services Agency sets the rules and publishes what to carry on its travel documents page.
Flight tracking is included. Free waiting time starts at landing: 60 minutes on international arrivals and 30 minutes on domestic. Ottawa winters produce diversions and de-icing queues, and our tracking moves the pickup with the aircraft.
Ottawa airport limo for Parliament Hill, ministers and delegations
Government travel has its own rhythm. A committee witness lands at 7:40, expects to be at a hearing by 9, and does not want to spend that margin on a taxi line. A delegation of eight arrives on three flights and wants to be in the same vehicle for the first dinner.

Our usual approach for those bookings is simple:
- One booking per flight, with flight numbers entered, so every pickup is tracked.
- A name board at the arrivals hall if the traveller is unfamiliar with the airport.
- An Executive Sprinter, which seats 12 to 14, when a group needs to travel together and keep luggage in the same vehicle.
- Hourly service for a day of meetings, so the vehicle waits rather than shuttling back and forth.
Drivers do not discuss their passengers, and bookings are not shared outside the people involved.
Embassies, high commissions and diplomatic travel
Many of the city's embassies and high commissions are in Sandy Hill and Rockcliffe Park, with others in the Glebe and downtown. For these trips, accuracy of the address matters more than the distance. Give us the building and the entrance you need, and note whether a security check at the gate is likely to hold the vehicle.

A sedan suits an ambassador or a single official. A Luxury SUV (six passengers, five or six large bags) suits a delegation or a family. For formal events, hourly chauffeur service in a sedan or SUV starts at $135–$165 and $175–$210 per hour, with a two-hour minimum. We book vehicles and routes; we do not provide security services, and any protective detail is separate from the car.
The Shaw Centre, conferences and convention transfers
The Shaw Centre sits at 55 Colonel By Drive, across from Parliament Hill, close to the Rideau Canal and within walking distance of the Rideau Centre. Conference traffic is predictable: a surge on the first morning and again on the last afternoon. If you have a keynote or a flight to catch, book the car for a fixed time and let the driver handle the rest.

For groups, an Executive Sprinter makes a shuttle loop between the airport, the convention centre and two or three hotels. Ask us to quote a day-rate if you need several trips.
Ottawa airport to Gatineau and Kanata
Gatineau is across the Ottawa River, usually 20 to 35 minutes from the airport depending on which bridge is moving. The Canadian Museum of History and the government offices in Hull are the most common destinations. Because the fare falls under the minimum, the booker will show the same sedan fare as for Parliament Hill.

Kanata, west of the city, is the tech corridor. The trip is about 35 km and typically 30 to 50 minutes via the 417, and costs $165–$195 in a sedan or $205–$250 in an SUV. Rush hour on the 417 is the biggest source of variation.
Montréal, Kingston and long-distance transfers from Ottawa airport
Between the cities, a private car trades a train's schedule for your own departure time.
| Destination from YOW | Approx. distance | Typical drive | Executive Sedan | Luxury SUV | Executive Sprinter |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Montréal (downtown) | about 200 km | 2 h 15–2 h 45 | $930–$1,110 | $1,170–$1,410 | $1,650–$1,980 |
| Kingston | about 185 km | 1 h 55–2 h 15 | $865–$1,030 | $1,080–$1,305 | $1,530–$1,830 |
VIA Rail runs between Ottawa and both cities. Its Ottawa to Kingston page lists 191 km and an average of 2 hours 6 minutes, and its Ottawa station is at 200 Tremblay Road. If you want a driver to bring you from the train, see our Ottawa station pickups. For the Montréal side of a journey, see our Montréal-Trudeau airport page.
Ottawa airport transport compared: O-Train, bus, taxi, rideshare and limo
Ottawa has a rail link to its airport. It is cheap and good for some travellers, and not for others.
| Option | Typical cost | Time to downtown | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| O-Train Line 4 plus a transfer | A standard OC Transpo fare, tap with Presto, debit, credit or phone | Roughly 40–60 min to the core with a transfer | Light luggage, daytime, close to a station |
| OC Transpo bus 105 | A standard OC Transpo fare | 45+ min | Budget travellers, overnight service |
| Taxi | Roughly $35–$50 | 15–25 min | One or two travellers, no booking |
| Rideshare | Roughly $25–$40, varies with demand | 15–25 min | Short notice |
| Pre-booked private car (LimousineCanada.ca) | Sedan $145–$175, SUV $180–$220 | 15–25 min | Luggage, groups, business, early or late flights |
O-Train Line 4. The Ottawa airport station connects to Level 3 of the terminal at the north end, and per the airport it runs from 6 a.m. to midnight to South Keys station, where you transfer to continue toward the core. It does not go straight downtown, so factor in the change. OC Transpo can have service notices, so check before you travel.
Bus 105. The airport lists route 105 as running 24 hours a day every 30 minutes, to St-Laurent Station by day and toward Rideau Station overnight. It is the cheapest option and the slowest, and it is the one that works at 3 a.m.
When to use the train. If you are alone, light, and your hotel is near a station, Line 4 is an inexpensive and dependable option. When to book a car. If you have luggage, a tight schedule, a group, or an early flight out, the extra cost buys time and certainty.
Winter in Ottawa: snow, Winterlude and tulip season
Ottawa has a long, serious winter. The Rideau Canal Skateway and Winterlude bring crowds and road closures to the core, and a snowstorm can slow the Airport Parkway. Your driver chooses the route on the day.
In May, the tulip season brings visitors to the Capital, and Canada Day around the Hill is a major traffic event. If you are travelling on a major event day, tell us your hotel and your hard deadline when you book so we can add margin.
Choosing a vehicle at YOW

Frequently asked questions
How much is a limo from Ottawa airport to downtown?
A sedan is $145–$175 and a Luxury SUV is $180–$220 for the run of about 15 km, which usually takes 15 to 25 minutes. The fare is before tax and the booker gives your exact all-in price.
Is there a train from the Ottawa airport to downtown?
There is an O-Train Line 4 station at the airport, connected to Level 3 of the terminal. It runs from 6 a.m. to midnight to South Keys, where you transfer, so it is not a direct ride downtown. Bus 105 runs 24 hours.
What is the cheapest way to get from YOW to Parliament Hill?
The O-Train Line 4 with a transfer, or the 105 bus, on a standard OC Transpo fare. Both are slow and awkward with luggage. A taxi is the next step up, and a private car is the most comfortable.
Is an airport limo worth it in Ottawa?
It is worth it for business and government travel, groups, and anyone with luggage or a tight schedule. For a solo traveller with a carry-on and no deadline, the train or a taxi is cheaper.
Where do I meet my driver at Ottawa airport?
Licensed transportation operates from Level 1 (arrivals). The airport lists pre-arranged and limousine pickups at pillars 12 and 13. Your driver confirms the exact point by message, or meets you inside the hall with a name board if you add the $100–$150 meet-and-greet.
How long will the driver wait at YOW if my flight is delayed?
Flight tracking is included, so the pickup shifts with the aircraft. Free waiting starts at touchdown and lasts 60 minutes on international arrivals, 30 on domestic.
Can you drive me from Ottawa airport to Montréal or Kingston?
Yes. Montréal is about 200 km (2 h 15 to 2 h 45) at $930–$1,110 in a sedan or $1,170–$1,410 in an SUV. Kingston is about 185 km at $865–$1,030 in a sedan or $1,080–$1,305 in an SUV.
Can you take me to an embassy or a conference at the Shaw Centre?
Yes. Embassies in Sandy Hill and Rockcliffe Park and the Shaw Centre at 55 Colonel By Drive are all under the minimum fare, $145–$175 in a sedan. Give us the entrance you need and a hard deadline.
Do you provide child seats?
Yes, free on request when you book. Tell us the child's age and weight so the correct seat is fitted.
