A Just For Laughs Montréal limo takes the guesswork out of festival week: the airport run, the gala evening at Place des Arts, the late set at a club on Sainte-Catherine Street and the ride back to the hotel, all arranged before you land. The festival is dense, bilingual and busy, and the streets around the Quartier des Spectacles are at their most crowded exactly when the best shows end.
This guide covers the festival's usual dates, where its venues sit, what happened to the event between 2024 and 2026, and how a chauffeured car compares with the métro and the airport bus. All fares are ranges in Canadian dollars before tax, tied to a real distance.
When is the Just For Laughs festival in Montréal?
Just For Laughs Montréal is held in July. The 2026 edition, its 44th, ran from July 15 to July 26 in downtown Montréal. Dates are set each year by the organisers, and none had been confirmed for 2027 when we checked, so look at the festival's official site, hahaha.com, before booking flights.
The festival's own site published the 2026 dates in Montréal as July 15 to 26, with a second festival in Québec City from July 22 to August 2. Tourisme Montréal calls the Montréal edition the largest comedy festival in the world, and describes shows spread across theatres, clubs and an outdoor plaza.
For a trip in 2027, plan around the middle to the end of July and treat the exact days as unconfirmed until the organisers announce them.
What happened to the festival, and where it stands now
Visitors who remember the festival before 2024 should know it changed hands. In March 2024, the company that owned the festival, Groupe Juste pour rire, filed for creditor protection and announced that the 2024 festival would not take place in its usual form. Court documents reported at the time showed nearly $22.5 million owed to creditors.

The brands, including Just For Laughs and Juste pour rire, were later bought by the Québec entertainment group ComediHa. Press coverage describes a scaled-down return in 2025 and a full-size festival in 2026, and the official announcement for 2026 quotes the festival's president and chief executive saying a stronger, more unified foundation has been laid.
The practical point for travellers: the festival is running, it is large again, and the 2026 programme showed that the Montréal and Québec City editions are now planned together. We give no ticket prices or lineups here, because both change every year. Use the official site for those.
Where the shows are: the Quartier des Spectacles and beyond
The centre of gravity is the Quartier des Spectacles, the entertainment district around Place des Arts. According to Tourisme Montréal's 2026 festival page, the main venues include:
- Théâtre Maisonneuve and Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier at Place des Arts, for the large galas and headline shows
- The Olympia, Club Soda, MTelus, Gesù and Le National
- Studio TD, Café Cléopâtre, Comedy Nest, The Rialto and Théâtre Sainte-Catherine
- Cinquième Salle, Espace St-Denis, and screenings at the Cinémathèque Québécoise
The festival's official site also names a Dr Squatch Stage on Sainte-Catherine Street and lists Place des Arts as a city partner. Because the venues cluster, a night out can involve two or three stops within a few kilometres, which is where a car by the hour starts to make sense.
The free outdoor shows at Place des Festivals
Part of the festival is free. Tourisme Montréal describes outdoor shows at Place des Festivals in the heart of the Quartier des Spectacles, and in 2026 the outdoor headliner was announced for the evening of July 25. Outdoor crowds are the reason to leave extra time for any pickup nearby.

A plaza is not a place a car can drive into, so the practical pickup point is on one of the surrounding streets. When you book, tell us which show you are attending and we will propose a pickup corner a short walk from the exit. Your chauffeur confirms it closer to the date.
Just For Laughs limo from Montréal-Trudeau airport
Montréal-Trudeau is about 20 kilometres from Place des Arts, a drive of roughly 28 minutes without traffic. On a festival evening with downtown busy, allow noticeably longer. At the rate card, that distance sits on the minimum transfer:
| Vehicle | YUL to Place des Arts (20 km, about 28 min without traffic) |
|---|---|
| Executive Sedan (3 passengers) | $145–$175 |
| Luxury SUV (6 passengers) | $180–$220 |
| Executive Sprinter (12–14 passengers) | $295–$355 |
Flight tracking is included. For an international arrival, your chauffeur waits up to 60 minutes after landing at no charge, and for a domestic arrival 30 minutes. A name-board greeting inside the arrivals hall is an optional add-on at $100–$150. Our Montréal-Trudeau airport page explains where the pickup happens.
From Gare Centrale and downtown hotels
Most festival visitors who stay downtown are within a few minutes of the venues. The Gare Centrale area is about 2.4 kilometres from Place des Arts, a drive of under six minutes on an empty road, which means the minimum transfer applies: $145–$175 in a sedan. If you arrive by train, our Montréal Central Station page covers the curb and the booking steps.

For hotel-to-venue runs of this length, a single transfer is rarely the best value. Hourly service often is, particularly on gala nights. An Executive Sedan is $135–$165 per hour with a two-hour minimum, and a Luxury SUV is $175–$210 per hour with a two-hour minimum. Four hours for an evening of two shows and dinner would be $540–$660 in a sedan or $700–$840 in an SUV, before tax. The booker shows how your hours are counted.
A show-night plan that works
A typical evening goes better with three decisions made in advance:
- Choose the pickup corner, not just the venue. Large rooms empty at once, and the corner you pick should be one block off the main exit.
- Agree the return time with some slack. Comedy sets run long, and an early-booked car that waits is cheaper than a stressed late booking.
- Keep luggage out of the plan. If you arrive from the airport the same day, ask for the hotel stop first so the car is free for the evening.
If you are attending a taped gala or a large theatre show, ask the venue about its entry time and seating rules before you go. We can adjust the pickup to match. Child seats are free when requested at booking, and the festival has shows for a range of ages, so check the age guidance on each ticket.
Choosing the airport bus, the métro or a private car
Public transit in Montréal is good, and for a solo traveller on a budget it is often the right call. The STM's 747 bus runs between the airport and downtown. The fare is $11.25 per person, which includes a 24-hour pass for the bus, métro, exo train and REM in Zone A, according to the STM. The airport stop is at door 28 in the international arrivals area, and tickets can be bought at vending machines there.

Downtown, the 747 serves Lionel-Groulx station and Berri-UQAM station. Since January 26, 2026, the downtown stop is at René-Lévesque and Berri, about 10 minutes on foot from the bus terminal. The STM lists departures generally every 10 to 20 minutes through the day.
The REM rail line is also being extended to the airport. Reports have put the airport station's opening in late 2027, so confirm its status before you rely on it for a July 2027 trip.
| Option | Cost | Time | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| STM 747 bus | $11.25 per person, 24-hour pass included | Downtown in roughly the same time as a car off-peak; confirm on the STM site | One or two travellers with light luggage and a flexible schedule |
| Taxi or rideshare | Variable, metered or surge-priced | Similar to a car, with waits at festival peaks | Short hops after the last métro |
| Private car from LimousineCanada.ca | $145–$175 sedan, $180–$220 SUV (20 km) | About 28 minutes without traffic | Late arrivals, luggage, families, gala evenings, groups |
The honest answer: if you land at midday, travel light and have no evening commitment, the bus is cheaper and perfectly good. The car earns its fare when your flight lands late, when you carry bags, or when three of you share one vehicle and the per-person figure falls.
The Québec City edition
The 2026 festival also ran in Québec City, from July 22 to August 2, with a stage at Place George-V and a Juste pour rire comedy club. If you are doing both cities, our Québec City airport page covers arrival there. The distance between the two cities is a separate booking, and the online booker gives the exact fare for your route.
A sample festival day by car
To see how the pieces fit, picture a visitor landing at Montréal-Trudeau on a Friday afternoon in the middle of the festival. The chauffeur meets the flight, drives to the hotel and waits while bags go upstairs. That leg is the 20 km airport transfer, $145–$175 in a sedan.
The evening begins with dinner near the Quartier des Spectacles, then an early show at a club and a late show at a larger room. If the three venues are within walking distance, the car is only needed for the beginning and the end. If one of them sits farther out, a short hourly booking covers the hop and the wait. After the last set, the car collects the group from a pre-agreed corner and returns to the hotel.
The same logic works in reverse on the Sunday: a morning pickup, a stop for the Old Port or Mount Royal if time allows, and the airport run with a buffer built in.
Combining the festival with the rest of Montréal
July is festival season in the city. If you are staying through the weekend, the Montréal weekend guide maps out the neighbourhoods, and the Montréal Jazz Festival guide covers the other big downtown event of the summer. The Osheaga guide explains the music festival at Parc Jean-Drapeau, and the Old Montréal guide is the next stop for a daytime outing.
For travellers who arrive by private jet, the Montréal FBO page explains how a car meets the aircraft.
Weather, what to wear and accessibility
Montréal in July is warm and often humid, and evenings can turn cooler. Light layers and comfortable shoes suit a festival where you will walk between venues. Rain is possible, so a compact umbrella is useful.
For accessibility, check each venue's own page, because theatres, clubs and outdoor sites differ. Tell us at booking if a passenger uses a mobility aid, and we will match the vehicle. The fleet page lists seats and bags, and the limo rates page has the full hourly table.
Booking, rates and the cancellation policy
Book the airport arrival and the festival-night car together on the online booker so everything is confirmed in one place. Fares quoted here exclude tax, tolls and gratuity.
The cancellation clock starts at the scheduled pickup. A cancellation more than 72 hours out is free. At 72 hours or less the charge is 10%, at 48 hours or less it is 50%, and at 24 hours or less, or on a no-show, it is 100%.
Frequently asked questions
When is Just For Laughs Montréal in 2027?
The 2026 festival ran from July 15 to 26. The organisers announce each year's dates separately, and 2027 dates had not been confirmed when we checked, so confirm them on the official site.
Is Just For Laughs still running after the 2024 cancellation?
Yes. The company that owned the festival filed for creditor protection in 2024 and cancelled that year's edition. The brands were bought by ComediHa, and the festival returned in a smaller form in 2025 and at full size in 2026.
Where is Just For Laughs held in Montréal?
Mainly in the Quartier des Spectacles, in venues such as Théâtre Maisonneuve and Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier at Place des Arts, the Olympia, Club Soda and MTelus, with free outdoor shows at Place des Festivals.
How much is a limo from Montréal-Trudeau to Place des Arts?
It is about 20 kilometres and roughly 28 minutes without traffic. That sits on the minimum transfer, so an Executive Sedan is $145–$175 and a Luxury SUV is $180–$220, before tax and gratuity.
What is the cheapest way from the airport to the festival?
The STM 747 bus, at $11.25 per person with a 24-hour transit pass included. It is a sensible choice for a light traveller. A car is better with luggage, a late arrival or a group.
Can I book a car by the hour for a festival night?
Yes. An Executive Sedan is $135–$165 per hour with a two-hour minimum, and a Luxury SUV is $175–$210 per hour with a two-hour minimum, before tax.
Can a limo pick me up right outside a venue?
At large venues the entrance streets are crowded, so we agree a nearby corner in advance. For outdoor shows at Place des Festivals, which is a plaza, the pickup is on a surrounding street.
Is there a Just For Laughs festival in Québec City too?
In 2026, yes: it ran in Québec City from July 22 to August 2. Check the official site for the next edition.
Is an airport limo worth it for the festival?
It is worth it for late flights, families and bags. If you land early and travel light, the airport bus is the cheaper and perfectly reasonable option.
