A PNE Fair limo service solves one specific problem: Hastings Park is a big, busy fairground in east Vancouver with limited parking, four separate gates and crowds that all leave at the same hour. A pre-booked chauffeur car from LimousineCanada.ca drops you at the gate that suits your plans and collects you again without a hunt for a lot, a rideshare pin or a late bus. This guide covers the 2026 Fair as it ran, how to plan the next one, and what each way of arriving really costs.

How does a PNE Fair limo transfer work?

You book a pickup time and address on LimousineCanada.ca, a chauffeur meets you there, and the car drives to the Hastings Park gate you choose. The online booker shows the all-in fare for your exact address. For the return, you give a time or a rolling pickup window instead of standing in the closing-time crowd.

Most Fair visitors do not need a car all day. They need two reliable moments: the arrival and the exit. A chauffeur transfer covers both. The driver tracks traffic around Hastings Street and Renfrew Street, knows where the 30-minute pick-up and drop-off zones sit, and keeps the car out of the lot queues. On a hot Saturday evening that is the difference between walking to your seat and spending 40 minutes on Hastings Street with the engine running.

If you are travelling from the airport, the same booking can start at YVR. Book a Vancouver airport limo for the arrival and add the Fair run as a second leg. If you are already in the city, a Vancouver limo from your hotel or home does the whole job in one trip.

When does the PNE Fair run, and what do the dates look like?

The 2026 PNE Fair ran from Saturday, August 22 to Labour Day Monday, September 7, with the grounds closed on Monday, August 24 and Monday, August 31, according to the PNE's 2026 programming and the Destination Vancouver listing. The year before, the Fair ran from August 16 to September 1, as TransLink's service notice for that year shows. The pattern is simple: it opens on a Saturday in the second half of August and finishes on or just after Labour Day, with the first Monday of the following week off.

Exact dates change each year, so check the PNE's Fair page before you plan. The 2026 Fair has closed, and the PNE's site says so. The 2027 dates had not been posted when this guide was written, so treat any date you see elsewhere as provisional until the PNE confirms it.

The Fair began in 1910, when the event was known as the Industrial Exhibition, according to the PNE's own history page. Playland, the amusement park on the same grounds, moved to its present site in 1958, and its wooden roller coaster also dates from that year.

PNE Fair limo fares from YVR, downtown and Pacific Central

Hastings Park sits about 20 km by road from Vancouver International Airport, about 6 km from Canada Place and about 6 km from Pacific Central Station. Fares below follow our published rate card, before tax, with gratuity at your discretion. Short city runs sit at the minimum transfer charge, because the distance fares fall below it.

TripDistanceTypical drive timeExecutive Sedan (3 pax)Luxury SUV (6 pax)Executive Sprinter (12–14 pax)
YVR to Hastings Parkabout 20 km30–45 minutes$145–$175$180–$220$295–$355
Canada Place to Hastings Parkabout 6 km15–25 minutes$145–$175$180–$220$295–$355
Pacific Central Station to Hastings Parkabout 6 km15–25 minutes$145–$175$180–$220$295–$355

Drive times assume daytime conditions and allow for the congestion that builds around the Fair's opening and closing hours. Your exact fare depends on the address and the time of day, and the booker quotes it before you pay.

For a full evening, a chauffeur on the clock can be simpler than two separate transfers. The hourly rates are $135–$165 per hour for an Executive Sedan with a two-hour minimum, $175–$210 per hour for a Luxury SUV with a two-hour minimum, and $225–$300 per hour for a stretch limousine with a three-hour minimum. See the full rate card for the Sprinter and mini-coach options.

Which Hastings Park gate should the car use?

The PNE names its gates by colour, and choosing the right one saves a long walk across the grounds. Based on the PNE's own entrance list:

Chauffeur in a dark suit waiting at a doorway
Chauffeur in a dark suit waiting at a doorway
  • Green Gate is on Miller Drive, across from the entrance to the Hastings Racecourse.
  • Yellow Gate is at Rollerland, off Renfrew Street.
  • Red Gate is at the corner of Hastings Street and Renfrew Street.
  • Purple Gate is Playland's main gate, at Hastings Street and Windermere Street.

Tell the chauffeur which part of the grounds you want first. If the family is headed for the rides, the Purple Gate puts you at the Playland entrance. If you are going to a concert at the Pacific Coliseum side, the Renfrew Street gates are closer. The PNE lists the Pacific Coliseum at 100 North Renfrew Street.

The PNE also states that its site has 30-minute pick-up and drop-off zones for short visits. A chauffeur car stops, unloads and leaves, which fits those zones far better than a car that needs a parking space.

What parking is really like at the Fair

The PNE says plainly that onsite parking is limited and that a visitor is not guaranteed a space. Its parking page lists a $29 event rate for the Fair, which applies from two hours before the event begins, and it accepts payment at meters by card and through parking apps, not by coin. The page lists accessible parking in lots 1, 9 and 16, first come, first served.

Even if you find a space, you still have to leave. One fan guide for the 2026 Fair put it bluntly: driving is the worst way to arrive, because the nearby lots queue badly, especially at closing. That matches what a chauffeur sees from the road. The exit is the problem, not the entrance.

Here is where a pre-booked car earns its fare:

  • The driver drops you at the gate and leaves, so nobody pays for event parking.
  • The return pickup is arranged by time or by text message, away from the main closing-time crush.
  • A group of six, in a Luxury SUV, pays one fare instead of six transit fares and a $29 lot.
  • Passengers with limited mobility are dropped near the accessible entrance rather than at the far end of a lot.

PNE Fair by transit: SkyTrain, R5 and the 16 PNE Special

Transit is the cheapest option and a good one if your group is small and your day is flexible. TransLink's 2025 Fair notice, the most recent detailed one available when this guide was written, recommends the Expo Line to 29th Avenue Station, the Millennium Line to Renfrew Station, or the Canada Line to Waterfront Station, followed by a bus. The routes named were the R5 Hastings St RapidBus, the 14 Hastings/UBC, the 16 29th Ave Station/Arbutus, a special 16 PNE service, and the 210 and 211 from the North Shore.

In 2025, the 16 PNE Special ran about every 15 minutes between 29th Avenue Station, Renfrew Station and the Pacific Coliseum. The first bus left 29th Avenue Station at 9:34 a.m., and the last left the Pacific Coliseum just after midnight. A fan guide for the 2026 Fair says Renfrew Station is about a 15-minute walk from the grounds and that the R5 stops at the grounds themselves. Special service patterns change each year, so confirm in the TransLink trip planner.

TransLink's Fair notice also mentions two-for-one admission on certain Fridays for riders with proof of fare. The article does not list the Fridays, so check the PNE's events and promotions page for the dates that apply. If you are travelling with children, plan the connections carefully, because the last mile involves a walk or a bus.

Honest comparison: how to get to the PNE Fair

R5 RapidBus from downtownLow. Standard transit fareVaries with traffic; check the trip plannerDaytime visits when the bus is not packed

Chauffeur carFixed range from the table above15–25 minutes each wayGroups, older relatives, concert evenings, hotel guests

The cheaper option is the better choice more often than people expect. If you are two adults travelling light on a Tuesday afternoon, the R5 is quick and costs a fraction of any car. A chauffeur starts to make sense when the group is three or more, when someone has limited mobility, when you are carrying a stroller and bags, or when you have an evening concert and a late exit.

Playland, shows and evening plans

The Fair is a day-and-evening event, and the PNE sells it that way. Based on the PNE's 2026 programming as reported by Vancouver fan guides, rides at Playland need a separate ride pass or a Fair-plus-rides bundle, and the shows are included with paid Fair admission, with seating first come, first served. Summer Night Concerts at the Freedom Mobile Arch are ticketed separately, and a concert ticket includes Fair admission, but a Fair ticket does not include a concert.

Fireworks over the water
Fireworks over the water

Fireworks, called the Pyro Musical in the Fair's listings, were scheduled on selected evenings. If a fireworks night is your priority, ask the chauffeur to plan the return for a rolling pickup instead of a fixed time. That way you leave when the crowd thins, and the car comes to you.

Plan around these rhythms:

  1. Arrive before noon on a weekend, when queues for the rides are shortest.
  2. Eat and see the shows between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
  3. Return to the rides after the dinner rush, then stay for the evening programme.
  4. Call for the car 20 minutes before you want to leave, not at the last minute.

Families, strollers and accessibility

A family of five with a stroller and a bag of spare clothes is the classic case for a Luxury SUV, which seats six with five or six large bags. Child seats are free if you request them at booking, and requesting one up front means the car is ready when you arrive. Tell us the ages of the children so the right seat is fitted.

For guests with limited mobility, the PNE lists accessible parking in lots 1, 9 and 16, and it publishes a plan-your-visit page and a Know Before You Go page. A chauffeur can drop you as close as the drop-off zones allow. Mention any mobility needs when you book so the driver can plan the stop.

Weather, what to wear and what to bring

Late August in Vancouver is usually dry and warm, but it can turn cool by the evening on the exposed grounds. Bring a light layer for the evening and good walking shoes. The PNE also states ride rules: shirts and shoes are required, and bikinis and open-back tops are not allowed on rides, and some rides do not allow flip flops. Check the PNE's plan-your-visit page for bag and prohibited-item rules before you pack.

Pairing the Fair with other Vancouver stops

A Fair day pairs well with a morning elsewhere, because the grounds are open from 11 a.m. A short walk along the seawall is a good warm-up: our guide to Stanley Park by car and on foot covers the loop. If you want the market first, read the plan for Granville Island and False Creek, and for a North Shore half-day, see Capilano Suspension Bridge and Grouse Mountain.

If your group arrives by sea, the Canada Place cruise terminal is about 6 km from the grounds, and a cruise guest with a few hours between disembarkation and a flight can do a short Fair visit with a chauffeur on the clock. Rail passengers can use Pacific Central Station, which is a similar distance.

Groups, school outings and party buses

An Executive Sprinter seats 12 to 14 passengers with 12 or more bags and covers the transfer for $295–$355 within the city, which comes to roughly $25–$30 per person for a full load of twelve. For a larger group, a mini-coach or party bus seats 20 to 30 and runs $300–$420 per hour, with a four-hour minimum. A birthday party or a staff outing that keeps one vehicle at the gate all evening works best on the hourly rate.

Ask for the same vehicle for the return. The driver already knows where the group is waiting, and the group does not have to count heads at a busy curb.

What the chauffeur handles for you

A professional chauffeur handles the details that make an event day easier:

  • Pickup at your door at the agreed time, with a name board for hotel lobbies and arrivals halls.
  • Flight tracking when the booking starts at YVR, so a late landing does not cost you the transfer.
  • Included waiting time of 60 minutes after an international landing and 30 minutes after a domestic one. A name-board greeting inside the arrivals hall can be added for $100–$150.
  • A direct route to the right gate, with a plan B if a road is closed.
  • A return pickup that the driver confirms by message.

Frequently asked questions

When is the PNE Fair?

The 2026 Fair ran from August 22 to September 7 and was closed on August 24 and 31. The Fair has usually opened on a Saturday in the second half of August and ended on or around Labour Day. Check the PNE's site for the next season's dates before you book anything.

How much is a limo from Vancouver airport to the PNE Fair?

YVR to Hastings Park is about 20 km, a drive of roughly 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic. An Executive Sedan is $145–$175, a Luxury SUV is $180–$220 and an Executive Sprinter is $295–$355, before tax. The online booker shows the exact fare for your address.

Can a limo drop me at the front gate?

A chauffeur car can use the PNE's pick-up and drop-off zones and can stop at the gate closest to your plans, subject to the road layout on the day. The PNE lists Green, Yellow, Red and Purple gates. Tell us where you are headed and the driver will choose the nearest approach.

Is there parking at the PNE Fair?

Yes, but it is limited and not guaranteed. The PNE lists a $29 event rate for the Fair and accessible parking in lots 1, 9 and 16. Leaving at closing time is usually the harder part, which is why many visitors prefer transit or a chauffeur.

What is the cheapest way to get to the PNE Fair?

Transit is the cheapest. Take the SkyTrain to 29th Avenue, Renfrew or Waterfront Station and transfer to a bus, or ride the R5 RapidBus along Hastings Street. A chauffeur car costs more but is quicker and more comfortable for groups of three or more.

Is a limo worth it for the PNE Fair?

It is worth it for families, groups of three or more, guests with limited mobility, and anyone attending a late concert. It is not worth it for a solo visitor on a weekday afternoon, because the R5 does that trip well. The comparison table above shows where each option fits.

Can I book a car for the return trip at a set time?

Yes. You can book a fixed pickup time, or ask for a rolling pickup and message the driver when you are ready. A rolling pickup is better on fireworks nights, because the exact end time is hard to predict.

Are child seats available?

Child seats are free if you request them when you book. Give the ages and weights of the children so the correct seat is fitted before you arrive.

Do you serve groups of 12 or more?

Yes. The Executive Sprinter seats 12 to 14, and mini-coaches and party buses seat 20 to 30. See the fleet page for details and book the vehicle that matches your group.
