A Weekend in Regina: Wascana Centre, the RCMP Heritage Centre and Game Day

A Regina airport limo is one of the shortest transfers we run, roughly 6 km from the terminal to downtown. This weekend plan uses the saved time for Wascana Centre, the RCMP Heritage Centre and a Warehouse District dinner.

Regina is compact, flat and easy to read, and it rewards visitors who plan around one big green space and a handful of good rooms. Wascana Centre holds the Legislative Building, a museum and a science centre around a lake. The RCMP Heritage Centre is on the western side of the city. The Warehouse District and Cathedral Village carry the food and nightlife. A Regina airport limo is a short ride, and a chauffeur by the hour is the easiest way to hold the weekend together.

This guide builds a Friday-to-Sunday plan with the airport transfer, verified notices for this autumn, and honest advice on the cheaper options.

How do you get from Regina airport to downtown?

Regina International Airport describes itself as "just minutes from downtown," roughly 6 km by road, about 10 minutes by car. Options are four authorized taxi companies, Uber, Lyft or Women First, a bus or shuttle service, or a pre-booked chauffeur at $145 to $175 in an Executive Sedan.

The airport's address is 1-5201 Regina Avenue, and it is reached from Highway 1 East, Highway 1 West, Highway 6 and Highway 11. Its page lists Capital Cabs, Co-op Taxi, Rider Cabs and Delta Cabs as authorized taxi companies, and says all taxis can drop off at the curb. It strongly recommends pre-booking a taxi if you arrive after midnight. Pre-booked pickups with Co-op Taxi or Rider Cabs meet you at the commercial lane inside the Short Term Parking Lot, across from the main doors. Rideshare pick-ups for Uber, Lyft and Women First are in the Short Term Parking lot directly outside the terminal, following the Rideshare signs from the Arrivals Hall doors.

On our rate card, a transfer of this length is priced at the minimum, before tax and gratuity. Fares are $145 to $175 in an Executive Sedan, $180 to $220 in a Luxury SUV and $295 to $355 in an Executive Sprinter.

Because the airport does not publish a distance, ours is approximate; the booker prices the exact address. Included waiting is 60 minutes for international arrivals and 30 minutes for domestic ones. A name-board greeting in the arrivals hall is $100 to $150 extra, and child seats are free on request.

For a ride this short, a taxi or rideshare is much cheaper than a chauffeur, and we say so. A chauffeur is worth it when you land after midnight and want a driver already waiting, travel with a group or a lot of luggage, or plan to use the car for the full weekend.

Friday evening: arrival and the Hotel Saskatchewan

Tourism Regina, which is operated by the City of Regina and has visitor kiosks at City Hall and the airport, features the Circa 27 Lounge at Hotel Saskatchewan for a daily five o'clock ritual with a train whistle. It is a pleasant, low-key first stop, and it is downtown, so you can walk from many hotels. The Globe Theatre hosts its 2026/27 season, and the current comedy Mosque Heist runs until October 18 according to Tourism Regina.

For Friday dinner, the Warehouse District is described by Tourism Regina as Regina's walkable hub of food, history and local makers. Cathedral Village is covered in a feature about its people. Ask your hotel to suggest a table in either area and reserve ahead on a weekend.

Saturday morning: Wascana Centre

Wascana Centre, at 2900 Wascana Drive, is the heart of the city. Its website describes the Saskatchewan Legislative Building and Grounds as the home of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, the Royal Saskatchewan Museum as the home of the world's largest T. rex, and the Saskatchewan Science Centre as a place that inspires minds through science and innovation. The Queen Elizabeth II Gardens feature more than 27,000 flowers in 34 varieties, and the Wascana Cultural Trailway is a self-guided tour created with Heritage Regina.

Two current notices matter for autumn visitors. A prescribed burn is planned for Wascana Hill, the Prairie Arboretum and Bobolink Field between September 28 and November 27, 2026. Part of Wascana Drive is closed for a storm sewer upgrade from September 28 to October 16, 2026. If you are driving through the park, ask your driver to confirm the route that day.

The Royal Saskatchewan Museum is billed on the Wascana Centre site as the home of the world's largest T. rex, which makes it the obvious stop for families with children and a good wet-weather fallback. The lake also hosts boat tours and Willow Island rentals in season, and Bar Willow Eatery offers a lakeside patio. A chauffeur is useful here because Wascana's drives are long and the sights are spread out; an Executive Sedan on the hourly rate of $135 to $165 (two-hour minimum) covers three hours for $405 to $495 before tax.

Saturday afternoon: the RCMP Heritage Centre

The RCMP Heritage Centre, at 5907 Dewdney Avenue, is a non-profit museum covering 150 years of Canadian history and the RCMP's role as a national symbol. It lists the Crime Lab Forensics Experience, a hands-on activity that invites visitors to step into the role of an investigator, as a paid add-on. At the time of writing its site showed 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the day. Check the admission page for the current schedule and prices.

From Wascana Centre it is a drive rather than a walk, so this is where the car earns its place in the plan.

Saturday evening: the Globe Theatre, Casino Regina or the Brandt Centre

Tourism Regina lists several evening options: the Globe Theatre for live performance; the Casino Regina Show Lounge, described as a Vegas-style venue for live shows; and the Brandt Centre, home of the Regina Pats. Any of these is a short ride from downtown. If you have a ticket for a show, book your return car for a fixed time, so you are not hunting for a ride among the crowd at the stage door.

Sunday: Regina Farmers' Market and a slow morning

The Regina Farmers' Market is a downtown outdoor market; Tourism Regina lists the final outdoor days of the season as October 7 and 10, so check the market's own page for its indoor or winter schedule. For a quiet Sunday, a leisurely walk in Wascana Centre, a late brunch in Cathedral Village, or a look at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building's exterior works well. If a flight is leaving in the afternoon, plan to be at the terminal at least 90 minutes early.

Game day at Mosaic Stadium

Mosaic Stadium is the home of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and game days change the whole weekend. Expect heavier traffic around the stadium before and after a game, so a ride that is short on a quiet morning can take longer. If you are planning a Grey Cup trip, our Grey Cup week guide explains the rotating host city and how travellers plan. Agree a pickup point with your driver before the game, and pick a place that is not on the main route out of the stadium.

Combining Regina with other stops

The prairies reward a road trip. Our Saskatoon weekend guide covers the other big Saskatchewan city, and our Winnipeg weekend guide covers the next stop east. These cities are far apart, so treat any connection as a separate booking, priced by the kilometre on our rate card. For airport-specific details see the Regina airport limo page, and for the wider list of airports use the airports overview.

Late arrivals and early departures

The airport makes a specific point of recommending that anyone arriving after midnight pre-book a taxi, which tells you something about the late-night supply of rides. If your flight lands late, a pre-arranged chauffeur removes the uncertainty: the driver tracks the flight, waits the included 30 or 60 minutes depending on whether you arrive domestically or internationally, and takes you straight to your hotel. The same applies in reverse for a dawn departure. Confirm the pickup time the night before, allow at least 90 minutes before a domestic flight, and check the weather, since prairie snow or fog can slow the road.

A sample two-night plan

  • Friday: YQR pickup, check in downtown, a drink at the Circa 27 Lounge, dinner in the Warehouse District.
  • Saturday: Wascana Centre and the Royal Saskatchewan Museum in the morning, lunch at Bar Willow Eatery or in Cathedral Village, the RCMP Heritage Centre in the afternoon, a show at the Globe Theatre or a Pats or Roughriders game in the evening.
  • Sunday: a slow morning, a walk by the lake, a farewell brunch and the ride back to the airport.

An all-day hourly booking is not necessary for every part of this plan. Many visitors book the airport transfer in both directions and an Executive Sedan for the Saturday, which at the hourly rate of $135 to $165 for a six-hour block comes to $810 to $990 before tax.

Curbside notes for Regina

  • Wascana Centre: roads run through the park, but parts are subject to the notices above. Your driver can drop you at an entrance near the building you want.
  • Hotel Saskatchewan and downtown: easy curbside drop-offs outside the evening peak.
  • RCMP Heritage Centre: a drop-off at the entrance on Dewdney Avenue saves a walk.
  • Warehouse District: walkable once you arrive; your driver can drop you at the corner nearest your table.
  • The airport: your driver messages the meeting point once you land.

Weather and what to wear

Regina is a prairie city, and the prairies offer wide skies, dry air and plenty of wind. Pack a windproof layer in any season except high summer. Winters are cold, and a car that is warm and waiting at the curb is a real comfort. In summer, Wascana Lake is at its best in the evening.

Families, groups and accessibility

A child seat is free; just request it when you book. The Luxury SUV (six passengers, five to six large bags) suits families, and the Executive Sprinter seats 12 to 14. The fleet page shows each vehicle, and the limo rates page lists hourly rates. For an accessible vehicle, add a note to your booking and we will check availability.

If you are linking Regina with other cities, the airports overview lists every airport we serve, the airport limo guide explains how transfers work, limo service covers events by the hour, and the FAQ answers the usual booking questions. For current hours and notices, check Regina International Airport's taxi and rideshare page, Wascana Centre, the RCMP Heritage Centre and Tourism Regina.
