A Honda Indy Toronto limo used to mean a short run to Exhibition Place. Since 2026, it means something different: the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy now races in Markham, about 30 kilometres northeast of downtown Toronto, and anyone planning a race weekend needs the new geography. This guide explains what changed, what organisers and officials have said about the future, and how a chauffeured car works for the Markham site.

We say plainly what is confirmed and what is not. At the time of writing, no 2027 date had been published, so treat every date below as a pointer to the official site. Every figure is a Canadian-dollar range before tax and sits beside a real distance.

Where is the Honda Indy held now?

In 2026 the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy was held in Markham, Ontario, from August 14 to 16, on a temporary street circuit in Markham Centre. It had been held at Exhibition Place in Toronto, most recently on July 20, 2025. No 2027 date had been published when we checked, so confirm it at hondaindy.com.

The official announcement describes the new circuit as a temporary 12-turn, 3.52-kilometre street course in Markham Centre, the eastern part of Markham's downtown, bounded by Kennedy Road, Enterprise Boulevard, the Unionville GO tracks and Highway 407. The event is now called the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham.

What happened to the race at Exhibition Place

In September 2025, organisers announced the move. CP24 reported that Toronto was co-hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which ran from June to late July, and that Mayor Olivia Chow said hosting both in the same summer was "not logistically possible". Organisers also pointed to future development at Exhibition Place.

The race had a long history in the city. The event's president said the weekend builds on a legacy that began in 1986, and the previous names included the Molson Indy. The 2025 race at Exhibition Place took place on Sunday, July 20, and was won by Pato O'Ward, according to Canadian press reports.

Is the race coming back to Toronto?

Nobody has confirmed it. At the time of the announcement, Deputy Mayor Ausma Malik called the move disappointing and said Exhibition Place was ready to host the race again in 2027 and beyond, while Mayor Chow said the city would do its best to bring it back. The event's president said that taking a year off Exhibition Place could mean it may never come back.

The agreement with Markham is multi-year. Reports differ on the length: CP24's September 2025 article described a new five-year agreement, while a later CP24 report said Markham was contracted for the next four years. Either way, the arrangement covers 2027. Until organisers publish the schedule, we cannot say where a 2027 race will be.

The 2026 race weekend in Markham

The inaugural Markham weekend did not go perfectly. The track was not finished until early Saturday morning, so Friday's full day of on-track activity was cancelled, and the first practice sessions moved into Saturday. Off-track attractions stayed open, and Friday was billed as a free fan day with a voluntary donation to a children's wish charity.

The event's president apologized, saying "We missed the mark on our Friday offering", and said the organisation would collect fan feedback before 2027. Fans noted a lack of shade and seating, and fewer indoor options than at Exhibition Place. The race itself went ahead on Sunday, August 16, with a green flag at about 12:22 p.m. for 90 laps, and Marcus Ericsson won.

Attendance figures were not confirmed when we checked. The city had projected more than 140,000 spectators over the weekend, which is a projection, not a count.

Where the Markham circuit is

The site sits around the Markham Pan Am Centre and the York University Markham campus, with the Unionville GO station built into the course. The station's parking lot held the pit lane and a grandstand, according to race coverage. That is unusual: a commuter station became part of a racetrack, and Markham's mayor described arriving by GO as the standout benefit for fans.

For a driver, that means the geography is tight. Highway 407 forms one edge, the rail tracks another, and the streets in between are closed or controlled on race days. Do not expect a chauffeur to drive onto the circuit. Expect a drop-off on the edge and a short walk.

Honda Indy limo from Pearson to Markham

Pearson to the Markham Pan Am Centre area is about 46 kilometres, a drive of roughly 43 minutes with no traffic. Tolls such as Highway 407 are extra, and race days add traffic near the site, so allow extra time.

From Union Station and downtown hotels

Union Station to the Unionville area is about 31 kilometres, a drive of roughly 28 minutes without traffic. That falls on the minimum transfer: $145–$175 in a sedan, $180–$220 in an SUV and $295–$355 in a Sprinter. See our Union Station page and the Toronto limo page for city pickups.

For guests staying downtown, the question is whether to drive or take the train. The GO train is genuinely attractive for this event, as the next section explains. The car comes into its own for guests who want a fixed time, a hospitality-tent schedule or a ride home at night.

The GO train, parking and where a car can stop

Organisers urged fans to take GO. Global News's guide said Unionville GO Station was steps from the track, and Metrolinx added three trains each morning from Union Station to Unionville on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with return trips in the afternoon and early evening. Parking was available near the track, with the largest lots west of the event space off Enterprise Boulevard.

A car can drop passengers at the edge of the controlled area. Your chauffeur will propose a corner, using the road information published for the year, and will confirm closer to the date. If you hold a hospitality or paddock ticket, tell us the gate, since entrances differ.

A race-day plan

Using the 2026 Sunday as the model, a day might run like this:

  1. Morning: leave downtown or the hotel with an hour or more to spare, since the green flag was around 12:22 p.m.
  2. Late morning: arrive at the drop-off corner and walk in. Explore the paddock areas, food and exhibits before the race.
  3. Midday: take your seats for the race, which is 90 laps.
  4. Afternoon: allow the crowd to clear for twenty to thirty minutes after the chequered flag before heading to the pickup corner.
  5. Evening: the car collects you at the agreed time and returns to your hotel or the airport.

Hourly service suits the day. A Luxury SUV is $175–$210 per hour with a two-hour minimum, and an Executive Sedan is $135–$165 per hour with a two-hour minimum. A six-hour day in an SUV is $1,050–$1,260 before tax. Ask the booker how the clock runs for your itinerary.

Consider a pair of friends flying into Pearson on the Saturday of race weekend. A Luxury SUV meets the flight and drives to the hotel in Markham or downtown. On the Sunday morning the car takes them to the drop-off corner, and after the race it returns them to the hotel. On Monday morning the same vehicle completes the airport run. In that plan the car is a bookend at each end of the trip, not a vehicle that sits idle all day.

What to confirm before you plan around 2027

Because the Markham event is new and the schedule is unannounced, a few questions deserve an answer before you book flights or hotels. Is the race on its usual mid-August weekend, or has the date moved? Do the gates and the free opening day follow the 2026 pattern? Will Metrolinx add extra trains again? And will parking remain in the lots off Enterprise Boulevard, or move?

The organisers have said they will collect feedback and keep building the event in Markham. That is a reason to check the official site closer to the date and to book refundable hotels. Our own terms are simple: the cancellation policy below applies to any car you book with us, so book the car once the date is firm.

Corporate hosting, groups and families

Race weekends are popular for client entertainment. An Executive Sprinter seats 12 to 14 passengers with 12 or more bags, and a mini-coach or party bus seats 20 to 30. Hourly, an Executive Sprinter runs $240–$295 and a mini-coach $300–$420, with minimums of three and four hours respectively, before tax. Compare vehicles on the fleet page and check hourly minimums on the limo rates page.

Families should note that child seats are free when requested at booking, and that fans in 2026 commented on the lack of shade and seating. Bring sunscreen, a hat, water and hearing protection for children.

Train, driving or a private car: the honest comparison

For one or two people, the train is hard to beat. The GO line runs to the site, and the event added extra service. For larger groups, a car makes the day simpler.

The honest answer is that a train ticket is cheaper than any car, and for a solo traveller it is the better choice. The car makes sense for airport arrivals, groups of three or more and corporate guests.

If the race returns to Exhibition Place

Should the race return to the lakeshore, the logistics would look familiar. Pearson to Exhibition Place is about 27 kilometres and roughly 30 minutes, at the minimum transfer of $145–$175 in a sedan. GO's Lakeshore West line stops at Exhibition GO Station next to the grounds. Our CNE guide and Royal Winter Fair guide describe the grounds, and the Toronto Caribbean Carnival guide covers another lakeshore closure weekend.

Booking and the cancellation policy

Book on the online booker, and tell us the gate, the date and the time you want to return. If the schedule changes, we adjust.

Counting back from the scheduled pickup, a cancellation made more than 72 hours ahead costs nothing. After that the charge steps up: 10% at 72 hours or less, 50% at 48 hours or less, and 100% at 24 hours or less or for a no-show.
