A Thanksgiving weekend limo service is a way to take the stress out of the busiest family weekend of the autumn: the airport run on Friday, the drive to the dinner table, and the Monday return. LimousineCanada.ca books chauffeur cars for airport transfers, for family dinners across a metro area and for fall-colour drives into cottage country, with a fixed range of fares and a driver who knows where the traffic collects.
When is Thanksgiving weekend in Canada?
Canadian Thanksgiving falls on the second Monday of October. In 2026 that is Monday, October 12, so the long weekend runs Saturday, October 10 to Monday, October 12. In 2027 it is October 11, and in 2028 it is October 9. Many people travel on Friday evening.
Alberta's official holiday page states the rule plainly, and British Columbia's 2026 list shows Thanksgiving Day on Monday, October 12. Ontario's employment standards page lists it among its public holidays. Statutory status is set province by province, so if you work in another province, check your provincial labour standards office to see whether Monday is a paid day off.
The weekend sits at a useful moment in the calendar. Autumn colour is at or near its peak in parts of Ontario, families gather for dinner, and cottage owners make a last trip to close up for winter. All three of those habits put cars on the same highways at the same hours.
The airport rush: what to expect and how to plan it
Airports are busy on the Friday before and the Monday of any long weekend, and Thanksgiving is no exception. Follow your airline's guidance on arrival times, and add a margin on the two heaviest days. The simplest plan is to book the car first and set the pickup time from your flight, working back from your airline's recommended check-in window.

For arrivals, flight tracking is included with every airport booking. The included wait is 60 minutes after an international landing and 30 minutes after a domestic one. A name-board greeting inside the arrivals hall costs $100–$150 extra and helps when relatives who do not know the airport are travelling alone.
Start from the hub page for the airport you use: Pearson, Vancouver, Montréal-Trudeau, Calgary or the general airport limo page. They set out the pickup point for each terminal.
Thanksgiving limo fares from the airport
Fares follow our published rate card, before tax, with tolls such as the 407 ETR extra and gratuity at your discretion. Distances are road kilometres, and the drive times allow for holiday traffic.
| Trip | Distance | Typical drive time | Executive Sedan (3 pax) | Luxury SUV (6 pax) | Executive Sprinter (12–14 pax) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Toronto Pearson to Union Station | about 31 km | 35–60 minutes | $145–$175 | $180–$220 | $295–$355 |
| Toronto Pearson to Gravenhurst | about 167 km | 2 hr 15 min–3 hr | $775–$925 | $975–$1,175 | $1,380–$1,655 |
| Toronto Pearson to Bracebridge | about 183 km | 2 hr 30 min–3 hr 15 min | $850–$1,015 | $1,070–$1,290 | $1,510–$1,810 |
| Toronto Pearson to Huntsville | about 217 km | 3 hr–3 hr 45 min | $1,010–$1,205 | $1,270–$1,530 | $1,790–$2,150 |
Long-distance runs are priced per kilometre at the rate card's range, so the all-in fare scales with the address. The online booker gives the exact price for the exact destination before you pay. For a family of six with luggage, the Luxury SUV seats six with five or six large bags, which makes it the common pick for a Thanksgiving transfer.
If the plan is a day of colour with several stops, an hourly booking can be simpler. A Luxury SUV is $175–$210 per hour with a two-hour minimum, so an eight-hour day is $1,400–$1,680. An Executive Sedan is $135–$165 per hour, or $1,080–$1,320 for eight hours.
Fall colour: what the Ontario Parks report says
Ontario Parks publishes a fall colour report, updated through the season. As of the report dated October 7, 2026, Algonquin Provincial Park was listed with yellow and orange as the dominant colours, a colour-change reading of 90 and a leaf-fall reading of 40. The report does not define its scale in the text, so use it as a guide to progress, not a promise of peak colour on a specific day.

The same report notes that Killbear's colours usually peak around Thanksgiving weekend, and that they stay strong through October. The page recommends the Highway 60 corridor for viewing in Algonquin, and it says visitors should buy a daily vehicle permit up to five days in advance and use designated parking areas. Check the Ontario Parks fall colour report the week you travel, because conditions change quickly.
Our guides to Algonquin Provincial Park and Muskoka cottage country cover the roads and the stops in more detail. For the Ottawa side, the plan for Gatineau Park explains the lookouts.
Muskoka on Thanksgiving weekend
For a visitor from Toronto, the nearest of the main Muskoka towns is Gravenhurst at about 167 km, then Bracebridge at about 183 km, and Huntsville is about 217 km. Every one of those towns is a long drive from the airport, which is why many families hand the wheel to a chauffeur.
To keep the trip simple, choose an off-peak departure, such as early on Saturday, instead of the Friday evening rush. For the return, avoid the middle of Monday afternoon, when most people head home. A chauffeur lets you read, work or watch the colours instead of watching the road.
Muskoka's own site, Discover Muskoka, lists events by season, and its homepage highlighted an evening-sky event running from October 16 to November 7, 2026. Confirm any event before you build a trip around it.
Cottage closing and fire rules
Many Thanksgiving trips involve closing a cottage for the winter. A last bonfire of leaves and brush is part of many of those weekends. Ontario's fire season continues until the end of October, so the outdoor fire rules still apply, and the province publishes a map of current fire danger and restricted fire zones. As of its October 6, 2026 update, the page reported no restrictions in effect. Before lighting anything, read the province's forest fire page and your township's bylaws.

A chauffeur does not carry out cottage tasks, but a day booking can take you and the family up to the lake and back, with luggage and supplies in the trunk. Tell us about large items when you book so the right vehicle is sent.
Honest comparison: how to get to Thanksgiving dinner
| Option | Cost | Time | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Transit or intercity bus | Lowest | Longest; depends on schedules and transfers | Solo travellers with flexible time |
| Rental car | Daily rate plus fuel and parking | Fastest door to door if you drive | Families who want their own car for the week |
| Taxi or rideshare | Metered or app-quoted; holiday demand can raise it | Short trips are fine; long trips are costly | Short hops around the city |
| Drive yourself | Fuel, parking and tolls | Depends on traffic | Travellers who like to drive |
| Chauffeur car | Fixed ranges from the table above | Door to door with no parking | Airport arrivals, large families, long drives, older relatives |
Transit and intercity buses are the cheapest option when your destination is on a route. A chauffeur is the better choice when you travel with luggage and children, arrive late at night, or have a long drive after a flight.
Family dinners across a metro area
Thanksgiving often means several stops in one day: a brunch at one relative's, a dinner at another's and a hotel at night. A Luxury SUV on an hourly booking handles that cleanly, because the driver waits while you eat and takes you from house to house. A stretch limousine at $225–$300 per hour with a three-hour minimum seats eight to ten and suits a larger family that wants to travel together.

Mention any dietary or mobility needs when you book. The driver can then plan a stop with the right entrance. A child seat costs nothing extra when you request it in advance, so add each child's age and weight to the booking.
A three-day plan: Toronto to Muskoka and back
Here is a Thanksgiving weekend that uses the car only where it helps.
- Friday evening. Land at Pearson and ride to a city hotel or straight to the cottage. The airport run to Union Station is about 31 km, and Gravenhurst is about 167 km.
- Saturday. Take the main drive north in the morning, stop for lunch in one of the Muskoka towns and spend the afternoon on a lakeside walk or a short trail. Check the fall colour report before choosing the route.
- Sunday. Keep the day local. A family dinner within a few kilometres of the cottage needs no long drive, and the car can stay parked.
- Monday. Leave after the midday departure rush if you can, and ask for a pickup time that avoids the heaviest part of the afternoon. Allow for a longer drive than you made on Saturday.
A single chauffeur booked for the whole weekend can also stay with you, though a separate pickup for each leg is usually the better value. Ask the booker for both options and compare the totals.
Parks, permits and where a car can stop
Fall colour draws crowds to provincial parks. Ontario Parks' report notes that Algonquin visitors should obtain a daily vehicle permit up to five days in advance and park only in designated areas. A chauffeur car holds the same rules as any other vehicle, so the permit is your responsibility and should be bought before the day.
Plan the stops, not just the route. Many lookouts are small pull-offs with room for a few cars, and the Highway 60 corridor in Algonquin is a public road with other traffic. Pull over only where signs allow, and keep to the trails and parking areas that the park designates.
Older relatives, accessibility and comfort
Thanksgiving is often the one weekend when three generations travel together. A chauffeur car takes the strain out of the day: the driver opens the door, handles the bags and drops you at the entrance of the house or the restaurant. If someone uses a walker or a wheelchair, tell us at booking, so the vehicle and the stop suit them.
Long drives call for comfort stops. Plan one break for every couple of hours, and tell the driver if anyone needs more. The vehicle is yours for the trip, so you decide where to stop.
Weather, packing and road safety
October weather in Canada ranges from mild to wintry, and conditions vary a great deal by region. Check the forecast for both your departure and your destination, and pack for rain. If you travel into higher ground or northern routes, ask about road conditions before you leave.
Pack the trunk sensibly. The sedan carries three passengers and four pieces of luggage, while the SUV carries six passengers and five or six large bags. If you are bringing a dessert or a cooler, tell the driver so it travels flat and upright.
Pairing Thanksgiving with other holidays
Thanksgiving opens the long run of autumn and winter travel. Our guide to Christmas markets in Canada covers the next big trip season, and the Victoria Day long weekend guide covers the spring counterpart. For the full list of seasonal guides, see the events page.
Booking tips for a busy weekend
Reserve as soon as your plans are set. Give the flight number, the exact destination and the number of passengers, with the number of bags. If your plans might change, tell us that too, and we will help you plan around it. The booker gives a firm fare for the address you enter, so you are never guessing at the price.
