A Château Frontenac limo is the calmest way into a part of Québec City where streets narrow, hills steepen and parking is a puzzle. The hotel, Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, stands at 1 rue des Carrières inside the walls of Old Québec, a UNESCO World Heritage site, overlooking the St. Lawrence River. This is an arrival guide for guests who have booked a room, a wedding or a stop on a cruise. LimousineCanada.ca operates independently of the hotel and of Fairmont, and what we say about the property comes from its own website.
How much is a limo from Québec City airport to the Château Frontenac?
Québec City's Jean Lesage airport (YQB) is about 16 km and 25 minutes from the Château Frontenac. An Executive Sedan is $145–$175, a Luxury SUV $180–$220 and an Executive Sprinter $295–$355, each way, before tax, because the minimum transfer applies at this distance. The booker turns your exact pickup address into a final total.
The hotel's guide to its location is unusually specific about the airport: roughly 16 km and 20 minutes by car, no shuttle service, and a taxi at a flat rate of $41.40 by day or $47.60 at night, between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Those taxi rates are lower than our fares, and it would be dishonest to pretend otherwise. A taxi is the budget option for a solo traveller on a normal flight. A pre-booked car earns its price when you have luggage, children, a late-night landing, or a need for a guaranteed arrival time.
Château Frontenac limo from Jean Lesage airport
Your chauffeur tracks the flight, so a delay in Montréal or Toronto does not cancel the booking. Free waiting after landing is 60 minutes if your flight comes from outside Canada and 30 minutes on a domestic flight. Québec's airport is small, and the airport's own taxi page notes a counter at level 1 between international arrivals and the currency exchange. If you want a driver holding your name inside the arrivals hall, add the $100–$150 meet and greet at booking. The Québec City airport page covers the terminal and the pickup arrangement in detail.

The last part of the drive into Old Québec is on slower city streets, so allow 25 minutes, and more on a summer evening or when a festival is on. In the colder months an icy road adds time, and we adjust the pickup when the forecast is poor.
Château Frontenac limo from the cruise terminal and the train
The cruise terminal at the Old Port is only about 2 km and 6 minutes from the hotel, close enough that guests sometimes walk. A car makes sense for guests with limited mobility, large luggage on a turnaround day or a tight shore-excursion schedule. See the Québec City cruise terminal page for how embarkation and disembarkation work. The fare for a short hop is the sedan minimum, $145–$175, or $180–$220 in an SUV.
Gare du Palais, the VIA Rail station, is also about 2 km and 6 minutes away. A chauffeur lets you step off the train into a car instead of waiting in a taxi line with bags; the Gare du Palais page explains the arrival. For guests coming from Montréal by rail, VIA Rail lists times and fares, and our Montréal to Québec City page compares train, bus and private car on the 255 km corridor.
At the door of 1 rue des Carrières
The hotel's address is 1 rue des Carrières, and its own location page says that hotel parking is accessed from Saint-Louis Street. Valet parking costs $55 per 24-hour period including in-and-out privileges, with a six-foot vehicle height limit in the enclosed outdoor lot; the hotel's main page lists $65 per night for vehicles of 6 ft 2 in and higher and an extra $30 for electric charging. Oversized vehicles and trailers are not accepted. This is why a Sprinter is the vehicle we plan most carefully in Old Québec: for a large group we may drop the party in the old city and park elsewhere.

Check-in starts at 4:00 p.m. and check-out is until noon. The hotel lists a Fairmont Gold level on the 14th floor with private check-in. Your chauffeur will put you at the entrance the staff indicate and carry bags to the door. The old city's streets are narrow, some are one-way, and some stretches are closed to vehicles at certain times, so we ask for the building entrance and a mobile number at booking.

Hourly chauffeur rates for a Québec City day
Québec City is a place for slow days. An hourly vehicle can wait while you tour the Plains of Abraham, lunch in Petit-Champlain and take the afternoon at Montmorency Falls.

| Outing | Vehicle | Hourly | Minimum block |
|---|---|---|---|
| Two guests, Old Québec and the falls | Executive Sedan | $135–$165 /hr | 2 hr |
| Family of five with a cruise stop | Luxury SUV | $175–$210 /hr | 2 hr |
| Wedding family of twelve | Executive Sprinter | $240–$295 /hr | 3 hr |
| Wedding party | Stretch limousine | $225–$300 /hr | 3 hr |
| Large group shore excursion | Mini-coach / party bus | $300–$420 /hr | 4 hr |
The fleet page lists capacity per vehicle, and limo rates gives the full card. The Québec City limo page offers city-wide pricing and venues.
Airport taxi, rideshare or private car: the honest comparison
The table below sets the ways of reaching the hotel side by side.
| Choice | Price band | Duration | Fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Private car (LimousineCanada.ca) | $145–$175 sedan from YQB | About 25 min | Luggage, families, late flights, guaranteed pickup |
| Airport taxi | $41.40 day / $47.60 night, flat rate per the hotel | About 20 min | Solo travellers and anyone watching the budget |
| Rideshare | App price at the time | About 20 min | One traveller, one bag |
| Hotel shuttle | None; the hotel states there is no shuttle | Not applicable | Not available |
| Walking from the cruise berths or the station | Free | A steep walk; time varies | Fit travellers with light bags |
The taxi flat rate is a real advantage, and for a single traveller it is the right answer. The private car makes sense when the party is larger than a taxi will fit, when you are carrying more luggage than one trunk, or when you want to confirm your pickup in advance. Our page on limo versus rideshare sets out the other trade-offs.
What the Château Frontenac is known for
The hotel advertises 610 guest rooms and suites, four restaurants and bars named on its site, among them Champlain, Bistro Le SAM, Place Dufferin and Bar 1608, the Moment Spa, a pool and a wellness centre. It also calls itself eco-certified. It offers suites themed on historical figures: Churchill, Roosevelt, Charles de Gaulle, Elizabeth II and others. Its biggest draw, though, is the view. From the hotel you look over the St. Lawrence and the rooftops of Old Québec. The Old Québec walking guide explains what to see on foot, and where the car stops and the walking starts.

Weddings at the Château Frontenac
The hotel's wedding and events page lists the Salle de Bal at 573 square metres, seating up to 550 at banquet tables, along with the Jacques-Cartier and Frontenac rooms for 200 each. It highlights Le Cellier, a vaulted wine cellar with outdoor access, and the Saint-Louis Room overlooking the main courtyard, described as suitable for ceremonies. For wedding transport, a stretch limousine or a classic sedan for the couple and a Sprinter or two for the family make a typical plan. Since the old city is awkward for large vehicles, we plan drop-off points with the hotel. The wedding limo page lays out a sample day.
Winter Carnival, summer festival and Christmas markets
Québec City has seasonal peaks that change how a car moves through the old city. The Winter Carnival brings winter crowds, the Festival d'été de Québec fills July, and the Christmas markets guide covers December. In each case, book early, tell us the event, and be prepared to meet your car at a street corner rather than the door. The Québec City weekend guide shows how to build a weekend around those dates.
Montmorency, Charlevoix and Montréal runs
Montmorency Falls is about 14 km and 20 minutes from the hotel; the Montmorency Falls and Île d'Orléans guide describes a half-day. Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré is about 34 km, and Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu in La Malbaie is about 142 km, roughly two hours and fifteen minutes. Montréal is about 254 km and 3 h 15 min to downtown. For travellers continuing to Montréal, the sibling properties are Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth and the Ritz-Carlton Montréal. The hotels and resorts hub lists every hotel we serve.
Short hops from the hotel: what a car can and cannot do in Old Québec
Many of Québec's best sights are an easy walk. The Plains of Abraham are about 1.3 km and 4 minutes away by road, and the lower town's Petit-Champlain district about 2.4 km and 7 minutes. On foot, the lower town is reached by stairs or the funicular, which is quicker than any car, so we never recommend a vehicle for that trip.
A car earns its place on the longer legs. Île d'Orléans is about 20 km and 25 minutes away, Montmorency Falls about 14 km and 20 minutes, and Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré about 34 km and 35 minutes. A half-day to the falls and the island fits the two-hour minimum of an hourly sedan at $270–$330, or an SUV at $350–$420 for a family. The short hops inside the walls are below the minimum transfer, so each would cost $145–$175 in a sedan, which is why we would not sell you one.
A sample arrival day
Suppose your flight lands at 2:00 p.m. on a domestic route. The 30 minutes of free waiting begins at touchdown, so you can collect a checked bag and meet the chauffeur without a clock running. The car reaches rue des Carrières at about 3:00 p.m., an hour before the hotel's 4:00 p.m. check-in. The sensible plan is to ask the hotel in advance whether bags can be held, and then use the hour for a first walk along the river. On a cruise day the pressure is the other way round: you may need to be back at the berth by a fixed time, so book the return in the same session and leave margin.
What your booking includes
We track your flight on airport transfers and hold the car for 60 free minutes after an international landing or 30 after a domestic one. Child seats cost nothing extra when requested in advance. For cancellations, more than 72 hours' notice carries no charge, 72 hours or less costs 10%, 48 hours or less costs 50%, and 24 hours or less or a no-show costs 100%, measured from the scheduled pickup time.
