How does a Fairmont Royal York limo pickup work?
You book a car for a named time and place, a professional chauffeur tracks your flight or train, and the vehicle takes you to the hotel at 100 Front Street West, directly across the road from Union Station. Fares are quoted as a range up front. The booker on LimousineCanada.ca gives the exact all-in figure.
Most guests who ask for a Fairmont Royal York limo are doing one of three things: landing at Toronto Pearson with luggage and a meeting to reach, stepping off a VIA Rail or GO train at the station across the road, or heading out for an evening in the Entertainment District and wanting a clean arrival back at the front door. The three jobs look different on a map, but they share one rule. Say who you are, where you are landing and what time you expect to reach the hotel, and the rest is logistics we handle.
LimousineCanada.ca is an independent chauffeur service. We are not affiliated with Fairmont or the hotel, and nothing here is an endorsement. This page is the arrival guide a guest would want: which door, which airport, how long it takes, what it costs and what the alternatives are.
Where the car pulls in on Front Street West
The hotel's address is 100 Front Street West, Toronto, M5J 1E3, directly opposite Union Station. Give your chauffeur that address and the hotel name; there is no need to describe the building, because it is unmistakable from the station concourse.

According to the hotel's own website, valet parking operates at the east entrance, and the valet garage accepts vehicles up to 6 ft 4 in (about 1.93 m) tall. That limit matters for hotel guests who arrive in their own car, not for a chauffeur-driven drop-off. Your driver stops where the doorstaff direct, unloads, and leaves. A Sprinter van is taller than the valet limit and would never be parked by the hotel anyway, so a group arriving in one simply loads and unloads at the kerb.
Two practical notes. First, the hotel has said its East Wing retail promenade on the lobby level is going through a series of changes and asks arriving guests to read its guest-services notice before travelling. If your plan involves meeting someone in the lobby, confirm the meeting point with them rather than assuming. Second, Front Street is a busy downtown street. Give the driver a few minutes at drop-off to unload properly and do not rush a bag handover on the road.
Fairmont Royal York limo from Pearson (YYZ)
The airport run is the one most guests start with. The Ritz-Carlton publishes 28 km from Pearson to its Wellington Street West address, which sits roughly half a kilometre from the Royal York, so planning on about 28 km is realistic for a downtown-core hotel. Drive time is roughly 30 to 45 minutes off-peak and noticeably longer in the weekday afternoon crunch on the 427, the Gardiner and the 401.
At that distance the per-kilometre figure falls below the minimum transfer, so the minimum governs:
| Vehicle | Pearson to the hotel (about 28 km) | Seats / bags |
|---|---|---|
| Executive Sedan | $145–$175 | 3 passengers, 2 large + 2 carry-on |
| Luxury SUV | $180–$220 | 6 passengers, 5–6 large bags |
| Executive Sprinter | $295–$355 | 12–14 passengers, 12+ bags |
These are CAD figures before tax. Tolls such as the 407 ETR are extra when you ask for that road, and gratuity is at your discretion. The booker takes the exact pickup terminal and gives the final price. For deeper detail on terminals and curbs, read the Pearson airport limo guide.
Flight tracking is included. After a domestic landing we hold the car for 30 minutes at no charge; after an international landing, 60 minutes. If you want your chauffeur waiting inside the arrivals hall holding a name board, that meet-and-greet is an add-on of $100–$150. Child seats are free when requested at booking.
Billy Bishop (YTZ) to the Royal York
Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport sits on Toronto Island at 2 Eireann Quay, at the foot of Bathurst Street, and the airport's website lists a pedestrian tunnel, a shuttle and public transit among its ground options. The Fairmont's own page adds something unusual: a complimentary shuttle between Billy Bishop and the hotel, running every 15 minutes.

That shuttle is genuinely good value, and if you are travelling light and your timing is relaxed, it is the sensible choice. A private car earns its fare in other situations: a late-night arrival, a family with a pushchair and several cases, an executive who wants to be on a call from the moment the door closes, or a traveller who prefers not to queue for a shared vehicle. The run is short, so the minimum transfer applies in full: $145–$175 in an Executive Sedan, $180–$220 in a Luxury SUV. For airport detail, see our Billy Bishop airport limo page.
Union Station: the hotel is across the road
The hotel and the station face each other. Union Station, at 65 Front Street West, is open daily from 5:30 a.m. to 12:45 a.m. according to its own website, and it brings together VIA Rail, GO Transit, UP Express and the TTC. The city also lists the station as reachable through the PATH, the mostly underground network that covers more than 30 km of downtown. For most rail arrivals a car is unnecessary for the last hundred metres.
Where a chauffeur does add value is the onward leg. A guest arriving on VIA from Ottawa or Montréal and heading to a dinner in Yorkville, a wedding outside the core or a film-set call at a studio does not want the hotel check-in queue in the middle of the journey. Book the car to wait at Union, or book it from the hotel after you have dropped your bags. Our Union Station Toronto limo page covers the station curbs in detail.
Fairmont Royal York limo versus the other ways in
The cheapest route to this hotel is usually the train from Pearson, and we will say so plainly. The comparison below uses figures published by the operators and by the hotel; where a price is dynamic we say so instead of guessing.

| Option | Typical cost | Time | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| UP Express, Pearson to Union | $12.35 adult standard fare | About 25–28 minutes, then walk across Front Street | Solo travellers with light bags; the best-value choice |
| Hotel shuttle from Billy Bishop | Complimentary, every 15 minutes (per the hotel) | Short ride from the island terminal | Guests flying in to the city airport with time in hand |
| TTC subway or streetcar | One adult TTC fare | Depends on the starting point | Short hops across downtown |
| Taxi from the Pearson rank | Metered or zone fare, no advance quote | 30–45 minutes, traffic dependent | Spontaneous arrivals with no booking |
| Rideshare | Dynamic fare that moves with demand | 30–45 minutes plus pickup wait | Flexible trips when you are not time-bound |
| Pre-booked private car | $145–$175 sedan, $180–$220 SUV, $295–$355 Sprinter | 30–45 minutes, driver waiting | Groups, heavy luggage, early or late flights, fixed budgets |
If you are on your own with a carry-on, take UP Express. If you have a family, three cases, a connecting meeting or a flight that lands after the trains have thinned, the car wins on certainty. We cover the fair version of this argument on our limo vs rideshare page.
What the Royal York is known for
The hotel describes itself as a stately landmark since its opening in 1929, and its website lists three restaurants, REIGN, MONOGRAM and CLOCKWORK, plus the Library Bar. It also advertises a new health club with a fitness centre and pool that is complimentary to guests, and meeting spaces, weddings and social events. Its Fairmont Gold level is pitched as a hotel within a hotel, with a private lounge, an honour bar, breakfast and evening canapés, a dedicated concierge and live music on Friday and Saturday evenings.
One detail guests tend to enjoy: the hotel says its rooftop is home to more than 300,000 honeybees, part of a sustainability programme. It is a good reminder that this is a working landmark with a long history, not a museum piece. Treat the lobby as busy, plan the first ten minutes after arrival and give yourself a margin if you are joining an event upstairs.
Weddings, galas and events at the hotel
The hotel promotes versatile event spaces for weddings, celebrations and meetings. Event days change how a car should be planned. Guests stream in within a narrow window, the doorstaff are managing many arrivals, and a single car idling in the wrong place can slow everyone down.

For a wedding, we normally propose two vehicles. One carries the couple or the head table and is timed to the photographer's schedule. The second, often a Luxury SUV or an Executive Sprinter, shuttles family and the wedding party. Our wedding limo page explains timelines in detail, and the hourly ranges below apply when the cars stay with you.
| Vehicle | Hourly range | Minimum | |---|---|---| | Executive Sedan | $135–$165 per hour | 2 hours | | Luxury SUV | $175–$210 per hour | 2 hours | | Executive Sprinter | $240–$295 per hour | 3 hours | | Stretch limousine (8–10 passengers) | $225–$300 per hour | 3 hours | | Mini-coach / party bus (20–30 passengers) | $300–$420 per hour | 4 hours |
For a three-hour evening, that works out to $675 to $900 for a stretch limousine and $720 to $885 for a Sprinter, before tax. Our fleet page shows what each vehicle holds.
Staying near the core: Scotiabank Arena, theatre and the waterfront
The hotel's neighbourhood is the part of Toronto where trips are short and traffic is the real cost. Union Station sits directly beside the hotel, and the Ritz-Carlton's own page lists the CN Tower, Ripley's Aquarium, Rogers Centre and Scotiabank Arena as walking-distance neighbours of the downtown core. On game nights, concert nights and festival evenings, a hotel guest can leave on foot. A car makes sense on the way home when the weather is poor or when you are travelling in formal dress.
City-wide events change the calculation: TIFF week, a long-weekend Friday and big nights at the arenas. See our notes on TIFF logistics and the CN Tower planning guide before choosing your pickup time. If you add a dinner reservation, ask the restaurant what time they release your table and set the pickup for the end of that window rather than the start.
Parking, EV charging and the self-drive alternative
If you plan to arrive in your own vehicle, the hotel's website states that parking is indoors, with valet at the east entrance and five EV charging stations. The day rate is $35 for the first two hours (tax included), then $5 per additional hour up to $75, with no in-and-out privileges. The overnight rate is $75 (tax included), valid from arrival until 4:00 p.m. on departure day, with in-and-out privileges. The hotel suggests self-parking at 79 Wellington Street, which it does not manage.
Rates are the hotel's and are subject to change. They are included here because many guests ask whether a chauffeur costs more than a night of parking and a rental. For a two-night stay with one airport round trip, a sedan at $145–$175 each way is $290 to $350 for the airport legs, and no parking, fuel, rental excess or navigation is involved.
Day trips by private car from the Royal York
Because the hotel sits beside the main rail hub, it works as a base for outings. Niagara Falls is the classic choice: a morning departure, a long lunch and a return before dinner, with an hourly car rather than a one-way fare. Our Niagara Falls day trip from Toronto guide sets out a sensible timeline. For wine, Niagara-on-the-Lake is a short extension of the same route; see our Niagara-on-the-Lake wineries write-up.
For a flat-fee run in one direction, use the Toronto airport to Niagara Falls route page. For longer stays in the Toronto area, the Toronto limo page lists the rest of the city's services.
Winter, snow and road closures
From December to March, snow is the thing to plan for. A winter downtown arrival runs slower, so shift the pickup earlier by 15 to 30 minutes if you have a hard deadline. Flight tracking is included, which means the car follows delayed aircraft and adjusts. When a storm cancels a flight, you can simply tell us before the pickup window and rebook the transfer.
Downtown also closes streets for parades, marches, marathons, film shoots and construction. Your chauffeur will check the route on the day, but if you know of an event near Front Street, tell us when booking. The events page tracks the bigger dates.
Booking, waiting time and cancellation
Book on LimousineCanada.ca at the booker, not through a middleman. Enter the pickup, the hotel, the date and the time, and choose a vehicle. The booker returns the all-in fare for that exact address.
Cancellation is measured from the scheduled pickup time. More than 72 hours' notice costs nothing. At 72 hours or less the charge is 10%, at 48 hours or less it is 50%, and at 24 hours or less, or for a no-show, it is 100%.
Give us the name of the person who will actually be in the car, and tell the front desk when to expect them. Corporate travellers can have an assistant make the booking, with the receipt sent to a finance address. Why do guests book direct? Our why LimousineCanada.ca page lists the reasons: published ranges, tracking and a clear policy.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a limo from Pearson to the Fairmont Royal York?
Plan on about 28 km and 30 to 45 minutes. An Executive Sedan is $145–$175, a Luxury SUV $180–$220 and an Executive Sprinter $295–$355 before tax, with tolls extra and gratuity at your discretion. The booker gives the exact all-in fare for your terminal.
Where does the chauffeur drop me at the Royal York?
At 100 Front Street West, where the doorstaff direct. The hotel's valet is at its east entrance, and your chauffeur follows the staff's instructions for unloading.
Is the hotel's Billy Bishop shuttle better than a private car?
For one or two light bags and a flexible schedule, the complimentary shuttle that runs every 15 minutes is very good value. A private car is better for a late arrival, a group, a lot of luggage or a fixed schedule.
Is the UP Express cheaper than a limo?
Yes. The adult standard one-way fare is listed at $12.35 and the trip takes about 25 to 28 minutes to Union Station, which faces the hotel. A car is better for groups and awkward timings, not for price alone.
Can I book a Fairmont Royal York limo for a wedding?
Yes. We usually plan one car for the couple and a larger vehicle for the family and wedding party, hired by the hour. Hourly ranges start at $135–$165 for an Executive Sedan with a two-hour minimum.
Do you wait if my flight is late?
Flight tracking is included. After landing, free wait is 30 minutes on domestic flights and 60 minutes on international arrivals, and the car follows the actual landing time.
Can you provide a child seat?
Yes, at no charge, when requested at booking. Tell us the age and weight of each child so the right seat is in the car.
What is the cancellation policy?
The charge depends on notice before the scheduled pickup: none beyond 72 hours, 10% inside 72 hours, 50% inside 48 hours, and 100% inside 24 hours or for a no-show.
Are you affiliated with the Fairmont Royal York?
No. LimousineCanada.ca is an independent chauffeur company with no business relationship with the hotel, and the hotel is named only so you can book the right pickup point. Read about our Toronto airport limo services for other Toronto arrivals. The PATH figures quoted above come from the City of Toronto.
